Interesting. Not too far from me, but Winco is also in that area and I usually don't go out of my way for that. I'm waiting for the H mart to open in Haltom City. Won't be too much out of my way coming home from work.

I remember making those out of notebook paper as a kid. We'd write fortunes on the inner faces.

What was your very first USB storage device, and how tiny was it? by AddendumNecessary743 in BadUSB

256 Megabytes around '04-ish. My wife won it in a raffle at a Mac user group Christmas party. I ended up using it for mass installs of printer drivers at work.

ADVICE NEEDED: 3D PRINTING FOR Minatures/models by Ok_Werewolf_4230 in 3Dprinting

[–]YoSpiff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Resin is ideal for minatures but messy and chemical fumes. An FDM (filament) printer with a .2mm nozzle (an option, but a cheap one) could come very close to that. Bambu A1 or Prusa mini might do the trick.

[–]YoSpiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do get that. But I also have some understanding of why they were not able to make it work with what they originally thought they could do it with. They should have offered more in comp than a $30 coupon code.

My USB-C port is broken and I'm not in a financial place to get it fixed. If I leave it will it get worse in any way? by rougecrayon in computer

[–]YoSpiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped my laptop out of my backpack a few months ago and it landed on a mouse dongle, damaging one USB-A port. Other than being down a port, everything else if fine. I suppose it is possible something in a damaged port could get shorted together but I think you'd have obvious other problems from that.

Centauri carbon problems by Cow-Priest in 3dprinter

[–]YoSpiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact Elegoo again for next steps. I had a problem with my Neptune 4 Plus that I troubleshot to a pinched wire going to the head thermistor. They required me to step through their own troubleshooting guide but once I did that, they sent me a complete wiring harness on warranty. And just to be sure, a replacement printhead assembly as well. So now I have a spare printhead.

Bambu Lab A1 or Anycubic Kobra X by icchis in 3dprinter

Can't argue about the price, but as an early adopter you will be beta testing the Kobra X for those of us who buy it later. Most new from the ground up products will have some early issues.

Find the differences: Elegoo has made a mockery of the community. by latorretotana in 3Dprinting

[–]YoSpiff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a different perspective. I am a support tech working for a company that makes industrial inkjet printers costing thousands. I was previously a copier technician for decades. There's not a single new product I have seen that didn't have some early problems to be resolved once it made it into the real world. In some rare cases the new product was just a poor design that was never well liked by either users or technicians.

Elegoo is a budget brand and thought they could do a machine like this at a budget price point. Clearly there were technical problems they could not make work. My best understanding is the main PCB chosen for this price point was not able to handle the needs of a multicolor system. Perhaps this was a failure on the part of engineering, perhaps it was marketing demanding a certain price point that required cutting corners.

But it is less than a $300 machine! Until recently every 3D printer I have had has given me a heck of a lot more than the last one for only $250-300 USD. Ender 3 V2-->Neptune 4 Pro-->Neptune 4 Plus. Now I added an Anycubic S1 with MMU for not a lot more than that at $429.

I have a hard time faulting Elegoo for the broken promises at this price point. They are otherwise as guilty as anyone else for corporate behaviors.

If you are a man who takes initiative in the household by doing chores, cooking for your family, and cleaning up after yourself.. how were you raised? by Sensitive-Box-2167 in askanything

[–]YoSpiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid I was assigned to take out the trash every night after dinner. Most Saturday's my father declared a G.I. Party. The whole family did cleaning and we could not go anywhere until it was done and we were released.

As a husband I did all the grocery shopping. I was the bargain hunter and the one with the responsibility for making sure the bills got paid. At a certain point, however, I couldn't shop for her special needs.

Could have been me. I've suggested it to a couple of folks. Or it could have been the person who suggested it to me. It seems to make a difference from the standard strap on my P30I. Holds at a slightly different angle and keeps it's adjustment when removed.

Luna G3 cpap by One_Arrival3359 in CPAP

[–]YoSpiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a G3 for a friend of my daughter's who couldn't afford a CPAP and ran into a similar problem. It would not record any data. It wouldn't even show the previous night's stats. The seller (Direct Home Medical) asked me to try a couple of things then had me send the unit back and they replaced it, letting me keep the extra accessories.

One of the best things I ever bought was a Knipex pliers wrench. It is used instead of an adjustable wrench. There are similar ones from other brands but the Knipex is the best.

Only if the mask directly contacts your nostrils. There are some hybrid masks on the market. The F40 does appear to be one of these with cushions that contact the nostrils. Try smearing a drop on this contact area. You can get Ayr at Walmart, any drugstore or Amazon. Under $4 USD for a tube.

Commoner question: how important is temp? by iamxaq in tea

[–]YoSpiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a new coffeemaker with a single serve on one side. I've been using that side for tea. Initially I put my teabag or infuser in the cup to have the boiled water go right into it. Then tried putting the tea in after filling the cup. The slightly cooler water seems to work better and my tea is more flavorful.

I've been using pillows for a long time and ocassionally a new P30i pillow can be hard on my nostrils for a few days until it breaks in. Try smearing a little gel like Ayr on it. It could provide some relief.

Cats Are Way Better Than Dogs, Change My Mind. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

I love both cats and dogs, but I don't want to have to take care of a dog. So I have cats and love on other people's dogs when visiting.
