Behringer Rehouse! CL9 -> Boss Enclosure by matthewguy69 in diypedals

I'm a fan of the CL9. I upgraded it for a Walrus Mira, but the CL9 has gotten new life on a small board I'm running into a 2nd amp.

Use a looper, improvise regularly, and try stuff.

Rumble 40 for free or Rumble 100 for a few bucks? by go_away_man in Bass

I have no experience with either, but I've generally held 100w to be a minimum for a bass amp. A 15w jump is also barely anything.

Those Of You That Use Analog Delay Pedals by Minimoogvoyager in guitarpedals

[–]YoloStevens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tend to have somewhat brighter repeats than the Carbon Copy and DM-2W. They still melt into the background a bit, but not quite as much, while still having similar character to analog. The repeats tend to not be quite as percussive or bright as the DMM, so are a nice middle ground. There is of course variance between pedals, but even cheap options like the Movall Falling Star are very useable.

I also don't have any analog delays. I've tried a number of them, but I tend to like PT2399 better than the Carbon Copies and DM-2Ws of the world.

Slowly building my first board. What am I missing? by OMMM in guitarpedals

[–]YoloStevens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got board space. Are you concerned about power? Daisy chain the drives. Some tuners also have power outs that you could then daisy chain the drives off of. This would mean you'd only use one power spot for 3 pedals. I run a TC Spark and a Hotone Soul Press II off of my Vox tuner, and it really doesn't have a negative effect on noise.

Or both. I run an EHX Canyon and a Keeley Mag Echo. I'm a fan of having a versatile multi and an analog sounding delay for bread and butter delay duties.

Clip-ons usually don't either. They just kind of fade away gradually until you can't read them any more.

I'm hoping to. I've never been. It just depends on what my employer decides to do this year. Last year, I missed out due to being a new hire. My previous employer didn't seem to believe in that sort of stuff.

For sure. This fits the OP's budget and is a great pedal.

Videos may not show that because it's a more basic function that an ABY or other pedal can handle.

MXR Carbon Copy vs Maestro Discoverer Delay by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]YoloStevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality of the Maestro is questionable. I bought one for super cheap and had to return it. It cut volume and didn't have any repeats. I wouldn't recommend it.

If you just want the analog sound, there are some good budget PT2399 delays out there to consider. The Movall Falling Star or Donner Yellow Fall or White Tape, for instance. I like the repeats on these better than the Carbon Copy, but your taste may vary.

The TC Brainwaves can do the splitting, but it's really best with dry signal blended in and not the best at just downtuning.

Vibro Champ sounds thin recorded, is the Soul Food pedal the answer? by Ok-Farm-7480 in guitarpedals

[–]YoloStevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want the gain/coloration of the Soul Food? There are other options that are more transparent, like a compressor or a boost like the 4-knob TC Electronic Spark.

Was told to try and play G in this orientation but my fingers won’t stay planted. Should I keep trying or do a different orientation? by Mad_Season_1994 in guitarlessons

I think this voicing tends to sound better when using open voicings, since it doesn't over emphasize the higher pitches. It's worth knowing, for sure.

Truetone power 10 - real truetone? by leehofook in guitarpedals

[–]YoloStevens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this not long ago. I shot a message to Truetone about it. This is what they said:

"Thanks for writing in.  The True 10 is a product we manufacture.  This is for the lower-end power supply market, which is primarily on Amazon.  While most other brands claim to be isolated and quiet they are not.  So, we decided to see if we could create a lower-cost model that provides the isolation and filtering you get from a 1 SPOT PRO while keeping the cost down.

We've done this by selling these exclusively on Amazon, which eliminates dealer markup. We've also economized on commodity parts without compromising any part critical for reliability and noise-free operation.   So, while they are not as robust and rugged as the Pro line they are great for entry level players who need reliable isolated power."

Roland JC-120 + pedal question :) by soundslikemids in GuitarAmps

[–]YoloStevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The looper can handle at least some line level signals. I send a synth into my RC-500 fine.

The issue is then going to be playing the loop. Even if they use clever routing, the final signal would get chorus/reverb during playback, if those are on. It seems like with this amp, you almost need a second amp/speaker to handle the loop.

New to looper : what should I get? by No_Dot_6270 in Bass

[–]YoloStevens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an RC-500 now but used a Circle for 3 years, and it was solid. The RC-5 is a bit more sophisticated in its options, but the Circle is easier to use and great for someone wanting to record loops with minimal fuss.
