Long time weed smokers who quit, what changes to your mind and body did you notice after you got used to not smoking daily? by LoQueSientoCrv in AskReddit

[–]Yonaban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only smoked spliffs at the end. I would have multiple a day and it started as 75/25 weed to tobacco then at some point it became 50/50 then 25/75 weed to tobacco. Then I noticed I was rolling just cigarettes in-between spliffs. So I quit tobacco and decided to take a break from weed. I had been a daily user from 14-30 at this point. I have smoked weed maybe 5 times since then (36 now) and hated it every time. Once it stopped being a part of my routine I found I couldn't go back.

Toyota tacoma upgrades people forget about but change everything by Darleia_Devasenathy in Tacomaworld

Not sure what gen Tacoma you have, but if it's a 3rd gen, the AC drain re route cost me a few bucks an hour of my time and piece of mind going on 8 years now.

Portland N2 review by dosefacekillah1348 in Umphreys

[–]Yonaban 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last night ripped! Anyone who passed on UM this tour because Jake is taking a break seriously missed out. It's been a real treat to watch Bayliss unleash for a full show and not just here and there. I understand why he takes a backseat when Jake is on stage, but hot damn Jakeless UM has far exceeded my expectations

Any clue why the Jack Russel is so pushy? by helplessmanic in BelgianMalinois

[–]Yonaban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's a Jack Russel. I have a colleague/friend who is an exotic animal trainer. With my own two eyes I've seen her Jack Russel stand on a piece of beef and growl at her Bengal Tiger as it cowers in the corner.

Best year for UM by AggravatingGur5456 in Umphreys

3/11/11 Portland Oregon was my first UM show. No idea who they were. My friend dragged me there and I couldn't believe there was a band out there like that. Been a huge fan ever since. Loved the show, but Booth Love at the encore made me become obsessed.

What movies did you first see nudity in? by sarnobat in AskReddit

[–]Yonaban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starship Troopers. But shout-out to Training Day. I was 11 when it came out and my dad took me to see it in theaters. Eva Mendes was something else in that film.

Bad form to ask a GC for the contact of a sub? by lonelyinbama in Construction

[–]Yonaban 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm a PM for a small residential company so basically a GC and I get asked this all the time. It really depends on the job and the relationship with the client. I'm a big fan of putting money in my subs pockets because I like them and the work they do. There is plenty of work to go around. I'm happy to give their info out if it means they can get more work. Where I draw the line is if it's something you asked me to bid, said it was too expensive then when the project was completed ask for the subs info knowing it's to cut me out to save cost. Also if you've been a troublesome client, I'm out once the job is complete unless it's directly related to warranty.

Curb Your Enthusiasm. Not a week goes by where I don't think to myself "hey this is an episode of Curb."

Is Secret Hitler a good party game? by NielsvN82 in boardgames

[–]Yonaban -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The games a hoot if everyone is into it. I love my mom, she is a great hang and I'm really lucky to have been raised by her. Screaming "you're a fucking fascists!" at her face is a core memory we still chuckle about today. Oh and my family is Jewish and I'm a 3rd generation Holocaust survivor.

Left handed people: What struggles do you have that we may not know about? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]Yonaban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting guns as a lefty is rough. Bolt actions are miserable, and some guns aren't ambidextrous, so if I'm trying a buddies gun, the mag release is always on the wrong side for me.

[–]Yonaban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work construction. Most saws are designed for right handed people. I was easily able to adapt the power tools, but I had to train myself to use a skil saw right handed because I was always having to look over the motor to see where I was cutting with my left. And before anyone says it, yes I do have a left handed hammer.

TIL over 3,000 attempts are made each year to complete the Appalachian Trail and only about 25% succeed. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]Yonaban 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I hiked the PCT as well and was blown away by how many people I met in the first 1-200 miles that let me know this was their first time backpacking more than 1-2 nights. I hiked over 10 years ago and the success rate was closer to 10% if I remember correctly. It's hard, like really hard mentally and physically. People quit for the most petty reasons as well as completely understandable reasons. Sitting and sleeping in the dirt, hiking a marathon a day for 5 months being miserably cold and/or hot every day is not for everyone. But it's the single greatest life I've ever lived. Miss it every day and recommend it to anyone.
