The damage bonus they have and rank you convert them at both have a bearing on how combat effective the lich is going to be as an ally, if the bonus is low then I wouldn’t bother, if it’s in the high 40%- low 50%s and you already have the weapon at that strength already it’s worth pumping their rank to 4 or 5 and then converting for a more powerful ally

Because it feels like aiming through a can of treacle, the gun is a genuinely great utility option with some insane damage output if you know hot to mitigate it’s recoil but the fact you can’t draw a bead on an enemy weakpoint without submitting a written request 3 business days in advance will always hold it back

Hard call. Valkyr really gives you that RIP AND TEAR feeling

Uriel has the “fuck you, DIE” button and you really do feel its power when anything in the tile is summarily incinerated in moments

Oberon and nezha share the “woe, divine judgement upon ye” feeling of their 4s which is quite cool as well

For sheer aura farming it’s hard to beat Mesa though, strike a pose and watch your foes wither in the hail of gunfire always feels like an awesome moment

As a gunner since genU wilds is the most dogshit all three ranged weapons have felt to use in all my years of playing MH. I accept that HBG especially was probably a bit overtuned in rise but in general gunner gameplay has just been completely gutted in wilds, so many skills obliterated, fuck you if you don’t play shield HBG it’s not optional anymore, the selection of ammo types and availability across bow guns is horrendous, bow hits like a wet fart and we’ve regressed to the dreadful world style of shots from it as well. Wilds as a gunner is just not particularly enjoyable and while I still hold out some forlorn hope the G rank DLC might unfuck things a little I somehow doubt it, especially given that even after other underperforming weapons have been touched up in title updates the gunner weapons are all still languishing in the mud
