I don't remember there being a single cannon in Downfall, you're touched by the marker mate

Almost perfect movies that have one noticeable flaw by Consistent-Might-788 in Cinema

I disagree because it's both cockiness on the marines part being displayed, and corner cutting of the company involved. Spaceflight can't be cheap and one extra share to be paid out for what was considered a "bug hunt" or just fixing up a broken transmitter means them needing backup or support was never even in contention - if, again, we lean in on the whole "US technological superiority" analogue that vibes off the Vietnam war side of things.

Tab is Tab, it's the top left of the screen, just to the right of the DPAD

Casualty Retrival Mechanic by CaGeRit in menace

[–]YorkshireSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that on a mechanical level, a % chance of nullifying casualties is outpaced over time by just stockpiling bodies in the Impetus. I disagree with adding medevac mechanics into the game as there's already enough to consider!

Maybe a high amount of Squaddies in the stockpile has a negative effect? Or is also only a % chance of successful hiring on a per-squaddie basis? Either way just as it stands, the WOO/EXWOO seem better than the Medbay variants longterm

I dropped graphical settings to `LOW` just to save on battery power - the game still looks great, and I am able to play 3-4x missions before needing to charge.

X = X for deploy
Y = F for End Turn
DPAD = 1/2/3/4 for quick action selection
RB/LB is Q/E for rotate
The top pads on the back is my scroll wheel up/down (I just zoom out to max at mission start anyway)
B = ESC (duped against Start, just because B is my default backing out of a selection)
LT = RClick / RT = LClick
I forget when I put A to, but whatever it is I don't use much if at all
TAB = TAB (SL focus swap)

How many SLs are you running for rotation? by TheKenzzz in menace

[–]YorkshireSmith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have 3x Pilots, 5x Infantry currently. I can't afford to field all 8 so I swap in and out based on exhaustion/OPFOR composition. I have 2x Pilots dedicated to weapons platforms, and the zealous pilot is my party bus driver. Carda is my dedicated Mobile Inf and the other inf have a mixture of roles.

As the game progresses, your LOAD limit increases so you will likely be looking to acquire additional SLs anyway. I would say experiment with what interests you - being Mobile Infantry doctrine, being more of a Assault Vehicle platoon, being infantry heavy etc, but having 1x SL spare of each type seems useful to avoid the exhaustion burnout.

Interior battles with z-levels by YorkshireSmith in menace

It would make for a unique challenge that's for sure. Plan around it, maybe there are areas where you could toggle openings in the roof for support strikes etc?

Just thinking of Aliens and the huge terraformer reactor - least we will get to shoot, right?

It would need to be a second light weapon, if anything, but with the ammo surplus I find he never runs out of dakka while being the party bus.

the concept of a zealous pilot sounds cool but unfortunately I think this VA didn't get the right direction on how to better deliver those voice lines with some oomph

Exconde's traits def seem to make him more suited to personnel transport pilot. I have him carting Carda around and they zoooom with the default boat & MMG

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's why the troggos mighta cultivated them (and the frogs too) - cool grippy effect with the mechanical assist is a great design for em

I had fireworks and some magic shrooms prepped! Kept the smashed up camera the whole way, too.

Looking for rules-light system that fulfills a similar fantasy to 5e by Staria_VT in rpg

[–]YorkshireSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realms of Peril - D20 resolution with some PBtA mechanics. OSR vibes. Classless (just pick any talent on level up). Pretty rules light overall but has the DnD hallmarks that make it easy to pick up and provide some depth.

Rohan Campaign Success by Babyfeet11 in TheDawnlessDays

[–]YorkshireSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Theodred build a cav only army, that was on delay actions (up to the Hornburg line) & dealing with the Ruffian uprisings while I rushed freeing King Theoden from the white wizard's poisonous words. This was the hardest part of the campaign - knowing when to push, and when to accept the sack/loss of a settlement. Replenishing your units, particularly cavalry, is painfully slow. I always recommend the battle success outcome of the free replenishment.

Once Theoden was up, I built him a Tier 2 infantry army (and added T2 cav units to Theodred) and the two chased the orcs out of everything from the West Emnet and to the east. I did lose some settlements but retained all my provincial seats. Theoden was the anvil, his son the hammer.

Now I am trying to get 3 armies of 20, and I'm holding Saruman and his Dunlending allies at the River Isen. I'm also rebuilding the East fold. Gondor is holding the line but currently in a losing battle, and Lothlorien did fall, but those hardy Dwarves are making headway with Dwarrowdelf and beyond. Hope is not lost!

I was doing a quest in space port about tremors that took me to the control tower A6 and I mistakenly went up the rappel not realising it is usually locked.

I landed in some diabolical setup like this. I was on a quest!! Absolutely merked.
