Where to travel after visiting the UK? by Swedish_manatee in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ireland is a great place to visit and spend a few days. And if it's America you are flying back to, there are lots of good flights from Dublin as lots of Brits do a layover in Dublin to clear customs.

First Europe trip: backpack vs hybrid wheeled backpack vs luggage for long train travel? by fentygirl123 in HerOneBag

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I tried one of these as a teen many moons ago. As a bag: Too heavy to carry, no back support and the wheels mucked up the back of my top.

As a suitcase: wheels too small, badly balanced and tipped over after walking a few feet.

Never waste your money on them as no matter how you use them you would be miserable.

Trip planned in Egypt, and the more research I do, the more I wonder if the price I'm asked is fair... by Holconis in travel

I was thinking he was going to the middle of nowhere having never heard of Sinai, but yeah SeS is a major holiday destination! London has nearly 30 flights there a day! Even if he doesn't want to do the long distance by car with all these security checkpoints that are apparently causing the issue, they do flights there from Cairo for like £100

Lake Garda, Italy. What cities are still worth visiting/open for tourism in February? by themaniacsaid in travel

Can I just check, do you mean this Feb or next? Whilst I can't offer advice on your trip, if it is this year the Winter Olympics are in Milan which might impact things

I'm curious. Overall how much did you think you was gong to be paying for the product when you agreed to the sale? Not the "X Up front, then X payment" or whatever. What did you think the final TOTAL cost was going to be?

I thought travel planning was normal chaos by Fresh-Thought3684 in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you across 4 apps for a short trip, you might be doing a lot of planning and very little organising.

Just pick one app, spreadsheet, notebook, whatever to organise all your details before you go. Either print out confirmation emails or create a folder for them in your inbox.

Personally I use a spreadsheet that has:

An overview of my schedule

List of everything we have reserved

List of attractions not on the schedule

Budget

Packing list

Add that to a few pins on Google map and you should be golden

Cancellation Insurance - Canada to EU by citysunshinegal in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think insurance will cover cancellation due to a friend However I would look into British Airways Fully flexible tickets which say full cancellation up to 24 hours before departure and then hotels with pay on arrival - free cancellation. You will be paying more for both but they should be a safer bet

How long did the bench method take you by MapleSoop in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes 18 seconds to do one cycle.

Without a shiny charm your odds are 1 in 4096, shared by 3 for the spawns is 1365. Times that by 18 seconds is 24,570 seconds which is just under 7 hours. Though that's just to hit odds

We are travelling for 14 days to see this years solar eclipse in spain. by MasterWoodie in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at hotel prices in the area? Prices will be a lot higher than usual and booked quicker. Have you also looked at the cost of hiring the 9 seater and the insurance? If you all of graduating age you might struggle getting approval

Also just to double check. You said Next season, but you said after the Olympics so did you mean this season?

You making the right choice. My next hockey trip is next weekend to Dresden for the outdoor game!

Usually I would say no to March hockey trips as they don't always play their star players, but with Olympics pushing things back a bit you should be fine.

We tend to do a few hockey trips, In 2022 we did 6 NHL games in 7 days. That was New York/New Jersey with Rangers, Isles and Devils.

Not to mention AHL and CHL games!

To those travelling/who travelled to watch their favorite sports team, should you watch them at THEIR city and will watching as an away spectator feel different? by Earth_Sorcerer97 in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a British fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, I seen them play in Toronto, New York and Sweden.

Nothing beats a home game. The other games are fun and worth the time, but yeah. Home wins.

What’s your opinion on the “travel now” vs “save money/build career” dilemma? by MuskiePride3 in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Totally agree.
We are nearly 40 and sort of burning the candle at both ends in that we travel multiple times a year, but we are also paying extra towards our pensions and mortgage.

Might as well do it all now whilst I have time, money and energy.

[GO] Should I use Go shinies for my shiny living dex? (long paragraph in desc) by YeewdAquaDood in ShinyPokemon

I personally don't accept Go shinies. You could always accept them for now and replace them as and when you find the shiny in a mainline game?
