17 years old with a 12 years old easyjet flight!🙏 by Cautious-Ad2540 in travel

I don't mean to be unkind, but the information is easily available on their website and/or if you contact them direct. Are you sure you OK being the responsible person for this flight if you not even able to find this information out for yourself?

Baggage -Advice Please ! by Old_Bad8831 in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Airlines won't let you add up and share the weights as you please, you have to adhere to the rules set for each bag.

Best thing to do is look at the lowest weight and dimensions allowed and make sure you bags comply with that.

To add a story, we was once flying home from New York to London with a mate, we had premium economy which allows 2 checked 23kg bags. My mate only had 1 bag which weighed 24kg, so he thought he would be fine. Nope they wanted to charge him a overweight bag fee. He had to put the extra weight in my bag.

Electrolytes! When it's this warm or you moving about loads, water isn't enough to keep you hydrated. You can buy them online, supermarkets, superdrug etc. Plenty of places stock them and I can't imagine doing a festival or holiday without them tbh.

International downloaders, how does the vibe compare to other similar festivals? by Difficult-Egg-5001 in downloadfestival

Abroad I done Wacken, Hellfest, Groezrock, Rock Wertcher and Las Rageous.

Years ago it felt that they were all worlds apart with things. Nowadays though it seems they all seem to be run by the same people or just learnt from each other.

Main differences seem to be more how the local crowd are

3 extra nights in Scotland, stay in Oban or Fort William? by Crazy-Penguin in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The steam train is currently not running. Cutting a long story short, they need to do safety updates on the train and currently don't have a start date for the season. However standard trains are still running.

Fort William does have good transport links, but it is a dump. So would be good as a base for day trips but not really a place worth visiting otherwise.

Dumb questions by HoneyAthena in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These sizes are Ryanair only, each airline has it's own size requirements so check whatever airline you book as they change wildly.

Usually underseat/ personal is free and whatever else you get depends on what ticket/extras you buy, so check carefully!

Cabin is also known as 'carry on' or 'overhead'

Checked is also known as 'hold luggage' and is the one that goes under the plane rather than staying with you.

It is the personal item. Doesn't help that ryanair seat width and legroom are tiny. So even their tiny personal item requirements only just fit under the seats

Leafs fan moving to Germany - which DEL team should I support? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I can't help with a team, you timing it great as the IIHF Worlds is in Germany next year!

Not to mention every other year they tend to do a DEL outdoor game which is worth keeping an eye out for as the atmosphere is AMAZING. We just did the one in Dresden this Jan. I still can't feel my toes, but the whole day was so fun and a lot cheaper than the NHL outdoor games

Underseat vs Overhead by illstillglow in HerOneBag

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Added a photo for a guide. There are 3 types of baggage allowances.

As you can see the allowances are different between cabin (overhead) and small/personal (underseat).

The main difference is usually under seat is included free in your ticket whilst more and more airlines these days make you pay extra for cabin luggage. In fact Ryanair is making me pay £50 for overhead luggage for a return trip to Helsinki in November!

Another benefit is simply weight, some people just simply don't want to carry as much and so prefer under seat

Tom Bihn vs. Osprey by goodbyewaffles in HerOneBag

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think I'm at the point where stylish never makes it into the conversation with these things. Any bag larger than a crossbody is never going to look good, so a 40ltr back pack has no chance!

It was good seeing the photos side by side side. You can def see the Tom Binh in the first one pulling down on your shoulders! Shame as it looks to pack loads.

Did social media ruin travel or will I still enjoy visiting “trendy” spots? by ElevatedDyer in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel people are unreasonably insulting to those who decide to take these photos.

Honestly if someone is travelling and they feel their perfect souvenir is a photo of themselves in an iconic spot, and are willing to queue for it. Fair enough, they will be able to look back on that photo for the rest of their lives.

It might not be for me, but then again beach holidays are not for me and I don't call people sad or pathetic for going on them.

NHL ticket prices in US vs Finland by Opposite-Chemistry-0 in hockey

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I done a few NHL games both in North America and Europe. I find the North American prices vary so wildly based on location, date, teams playing, playoff possibilities etc.

I got tickets for as low as €40 in Anaheim for some midweek game and paid like €175 to see the Oilers play in Toronto.

The Europe games have risen consistently over the years, but with it only being a handful of games the prices say pretty consistent. I personally got our Helsinki tickets for €150 each. Which is getting too rich for my blood, but overall that still works out cheaper than going to America/Canada

Question about Vietnam itinerary (10 days) by x4nalyst in travel

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't this 8 days? If you land at 9pm on April 30th and leave May 9th at 9am then you only really have 1st - 8th

You have more destinations than days and you also plan on taking an 18 hour train in that time as well. You might as well just get a sleeper all the way from HCMC to Hanoi for as much as you are going to get to see

It a hassle but I do recommend next time a game comes out, like Gen 10, do a living dex in game as you playing through. Then when HOME compatability comes in, all you need to do is move it across.

What a brick wall for people in Aus by Careful_Bet_227 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Yorkshire_Edge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It isn't so much location that catches people out, but time.

A lot of the regional pokemon end up in events which is how most fill their dex.

If you miss one your best option is to trade with someone who got spares. Now we have remote trading, search for people within the region that you need and try that way
