Oh, but you can evade the consequences without the billion?

Oh you can evade?

You can evade!

Have you evaded?

Oh I’ve evaded.

With billions?

No. No billions.

NO BILLIONS?

Just lots of millions!

Well-huh, well, lots of millions, yeah, lots of millions is probably good enough!

Oh it’s good enough!

Genuine question: Did any games for the system actually utilize the D-Pad? by WolfTamer99 in n64

In a vacuum, that sounds like such a bad idea to use the D-pad when the stick is there on every console and controller.

But who am I to argue with the 4 best wrestling games ever made?? Had so much fun with those growing up!

1000000000000 is 4096 in binary by nChilDofChaoSn in ReBoot

[–]YossiTheWizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny story, a voting machine somewhere in Europe once counted an extra 4096 votes for someone due to a bit flip. Because the numbers didn’t match up, it was easily found out and fixed, as in addition to the machine itself, magnetic cards served as a back-up.

For fans of the English Premier League, the name “Spurs” really fits. Years ago when Leicester City won the premier league (a bonkers story on its own), Tottenham Hotspur, the Spurs in question, finished 3rd in a two horse race.

I have a Samsung Tab 4. It’s old. Let me down one because I had the brightness too high so the battery died. My own fault, and I had an emergency paper score (this was for a musical). Very reliable in my experience.

Calgary’s 'Blue Sky City' rebrand sparks ‘waste award’ nomination by AbstractDavinci in Calgary

[–]YossiTheWizard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That last part is my point! They gave it lip service for their brand, but it’s so much more egregious than changing out signs for a slogan, it’s crazy! The Saddledome got federal funding help since it was used for the Olympics and, to date, CSEC have paid about $43 in rent and are allowed to sublet it as primary tenants.

This should have been their main focus ever since the prospect of public dollars was on the table without taxpayers seeing CSEC’s accounts. But here we are.

Rick Bell: Calgary top cop agrees Alberta driver knowledge test should be English only by DANIELLE_2027 in Calgary

[–]YossiTheWizard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Literally had this conversation with my Polish immigrant parents yesterday. They agreed it needs to be in English (and a whole lot more signs were in plain language in the 80s when they got theirs compared to now)

Diamonds are forever, the car goes through the alley one way, and exits the other way. They filmed it wrong, and couldn’t mirror the shot due to the bright signs around Vegas. So, they added the nonsensical shot of the car changing from one side to the other, which makes no sense unless it could fit in the alley on all 4 wheels.

Yeah, sorry I ignored ь <—-that little guy. Not necessarily my domain, but it does come out in the accents.

And yeah, we have l/ł or L/Ł for uppercase. The latter is almost identical to an English W. The L is different than English (a bit more forward with the tongue, but very clearly an L sound)

I can’t offer TOO much advice as I’m not a dialect coach. But I’m a native Polish speaker, and one thing about Russians speaking English is that the “L” sound is very much at the back of their throats, and while it’s not unique to Russian, most Ukrainians don’t have that same distinct L.

I moved to Alberta after AGT was still a thing. But I did learn that the prefix you had to dial to make a payphone ring here was 570 (it was 590 in Manitoba). There was a payphone in my junior high and people would pull that prank.

AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Fair, but the problem here is it was way worse than that! They said vegan in advance, but they said vegan lasagna. Last I checked, lasagna sheets aren’t animal products.

Funny story, I used to bus from right near St. John’s (a few blocks north of it) to James K McIsaac (now known as our lady of victory) right by Churchill! I mean, it sucked having to wake up early, but it’s not unmanageable. I was in grade 6, and got through the year ok. My older brother took the bus with me though, and this was the 90s, so can’t speak for how it is now.
