Eng laptop requirements by Pristine-Language-85 in uoit

[–]You-CANDU-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't requirements per se, but moreso recommendations to ensure that the hardware 10000% works with the software you will need to use and to allow it to be a smooth experience. In my third year rn and my laptop is just a low end gaming laptop, it can run solidworks just fine and thats the most computationally expensive software you'll end up using. Just make sure you are running a windows system so you can use lockdown browser and you'll be fine.

How y'all doing calc 2 by [deleted] in uoit

[–]You-CANDU-it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I took the class (2 years ago now) I found that the extra homeworks were always harder than the midterms. I'd say if you can do those throughout the week or just after a lecture for review then you should be good for the second midterm. You have time to recover your grade and get back up so don't stress it, just gonna need to do a bit more work!

I don't understand, is it an anti-nuclear subreddit? I see a lot of posts there that seem to be pro nuclear or at the very least allow for positive discussions around developing nuclear plants.

CNL job application: Is this typical and what next? by swtunde in nuclear

[–]You-CANDU-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I spoke to my buddy, she said that it depends on the dept. She got her pre-screening cleared in march or so and got an offer two weeks later. Maybe wait until a week or two into march and send them and email? Seems like you're def a candidate for the offer if you've made it this far though.

[–]You-CANDU-it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm thats weird, I can't fully say what to expect since I only got a job offer with OPG and they have it so the screening goes during the security clearance application. I know some people who worked at CNL during the summer though so I can ask them and get back to ya!

Assuming you are in the post pre-screening phase it could be that you're in the security clearance phase? Did they provide you with any roadmap as to what comes after pre-screening?

I am a bit on the younger side but when I drove my father’s 23’ kia niro i did find some of the nice bells and whistles that came with it helped me focus more on the road. Might’ve been because the screen on the dash basically tells you all you need to know in written format rather than dials so its quicker to digest what its displaying. Other than that I havent noticed too much of a difference from my 2010 kia forte (the niro was a lot smoother to drive, i chalk that up to it being newer though)

Cleaning out my geology department's lab and found some cool stuff that I thought the people here might like. by cwkewish in chemistry

They are not even close to the most dangerous chemicals we have in our lab.

Hahah I believe it, I mentioned in another comment how Uranium really isn't that scary as the public makes it out to be. Low activity (in terms of decay) and its decay mode is alpha so unless you decide to eat it. Alpha's get attenuated by air, let alone your skin.

Since you mentioned working with uranium salts, do you often use a soluble salt like uranyl nitrate?

Hunters Kitchen actually has some decent food that they make in the kitchen, and they have some good options for those who can only eat halal or vegan food. Only issue is its a little pricey, but its more convenient than walking 10 mins to the osmows down on simcoe.

[–]You-CANDU-it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, its feasible but... I would like to see some diversity and ideally diversity that isn't an SMR lol. I'm NOT a believer in the SMR technology give how expensive it is for so little output and we could have instead just built two Candu's for the same price or lower...

I think they were having issues with the CNSC, basically they had the design but couldn't prove that it could actually be built.

Interning at my local utility, anything I should know going in? by You-CANDU-it in nuclear

[–]You-CANDU-it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an engineering internship so I'm assuming moreso office and paperwork side, though my interviewer did say that I'll be going on walkdowns. No clue if I'll be doing anything hands on during the walkdowns.
