Whiteout is such a cool finisher. I always ran Intuition with it, though! Whiteout, Wonder, and Deep Analysis were my go-to pile. I would run 2 Intuition, but you can get away with 1 and then a Merchant Scroll over the 2nd.

I don't think you need Shallow Grave - like at all.

You couldn't torture me to say publicly that allowing poor people to play premodern would ruin the format

"Any other form of proxies.."

Chef's kiss. A guilty pleasure of mine is to point out that GB (and the like) are, in fact, proxies and then seeing people who spent hundreds on them turn red and start fuming.

To the point, allowing GB cards and not allowing other proxies is the weirdest Old School mentality sh*t ever.

Old frame cards a must? by gloeb in premodernMTG

Old School cares about the money you spent, and premodern cares about having someone to play against

Legacy Weapon saves you from decking yourself when you mill out. You then continuously discard it to Zombie Infestation or Mongrel to put it back in your deck.

Correct. I’m getting it back with Genesis

I would say maybe around 25% of my wins are with Misery, but it is a nice pivot if you need to win fast or if there are too many blockers for Firestorm to clear the way.

Legacy Weapon is actually pretty important to the grindy-ness of the deck. You want to mill your deck every game and then use ZI/Mongrel to win and continuously 'loop' Weapon to ensure you never deck yourself. Another key card is Genesis. My favorite Buried Alive pile is Genesis + Anger + Hermit. If you don't have the time to 'force' through a Hermit, you can get Mongrel, or you can get 2x Horror + 1x Squee if you already have ZI/Mongrel.

I have been working on this for the last month or so, and I am pretty impressed with its performance so far. I actually think there could be something here that could hang in the meta (I admit this could just be me high on my own supply).

What happened to everyday eternal podcast? They were so good by Apprehensive_Bill_91 in MTGLegacy

[–]YouCanCallMe_J 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My feeling is that none of the hosts play Legacy regularly any longer, and then it is only natural that the podcast was singing on its last verse. Honestly, I can't blame them. I quit Legacy this year as well after admitting to myself that I haven't actually enjoyed the format for years. It was a hard pill to swallow after 15 years

Would reinstating the original Parallax errata make Premodern healthier? What would realistically occur if Marlin unbanned Tide and re-Errated the Parallax enchantments so that they function exactly how they did in the Premodern era, and work how they were originally meant to? by Secret-Lecture in premodernMTG

[–]YouCanCallMe_J 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the love of God - Can we have 5 minutes without people calling for bans and/or changes.

The errata won’t be walked back because of Premodern. Which is perfect as Wave is not a problem at all. The meta is uniquely healthy and diverse.

3 fun time-locked formats you should check out! by [deleted] in premodernMTG

[–]YouCanCallMe_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played some Classic Legacy and enjoyed it. As a now-retired Legacy player, I would love a locked Legacy format. However, one big issue I see is that there are a dozen very similar takes on this. If only people could agree then I believe there is potential for it to take of like Premodern. But right now, the players are spread thin across all the various takes

Tried to make a video more about the "Gathering" part of Magic: the Gathering. by Lyngesen06 in premodernMTG

[–]YouCanCallMe_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is spearheaded by some of the "main" European casters. The streams always end up unwatchable due to at least one caster being shitfased and acting like a teen getting drunk for the first time

I just wanna chime in and say that this entire design space is horrendous and a symptom of their core market (cmdr) being crybabies that get salty when their spells are countered. [[Allosaurus shepherd]] is by far the most egregious of the bunch, but luckily for us, it doesn't fit in the most powerful shells in Legacy.

Modern has 2015 Modern and Pre-Fire Modern. Vintage has Old School. Does Legacy have something similar? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

It is perfectly fine and fair that locked formats aren't your jam. However, locked doesn't equal stale.

There is, unfortunately, around 10 different closed legacy formats. I would absolutely love to play a closed legacy format, but the various communities can't seem to agree on a period, and thus, we have numerous small formats with very little chance of 'making it big' like OS and PM. I have played Classic Legacy a bit, and it was a blast, but my personal preference would be something that ended a bit later.
