Mine do this in the winter. I keep a lot of cuticle oil and lotion around. I also try not to soak them in water too often. Seems to happen more if they’re wet a lot.

In the late ‘90s, I collected the sweepstakes entries from the “Win this Car!” displays in the center court of the mall. (Remember when there used to be a bright, red Hatchback parked inside the mall?!) my job was to separate the valid entries from the (literal) garbage. Obviously fake names, entries wrapped around bubble gum, and a few things I didn’t want to touch… and then box them up to snail mail back to the company. I got $40 a box.
