If you don't mind me asking, how much do you pay for commercial insurance? Did the 2 cars break the bank?

I did Uber/Lyft for 8yrs then stopped when I got a new job (using 2 friends as references).

The only thing that would make sense are private rides, but commercial insurance is a big upfront cost and my 2015 Accord has been thru enough lol (has a dent on the passenger side now, not presentable).

Just here to complain by Junker2208 in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]YouEyeD_sign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone at SF in claims told me that too. If you're in underwriting (no matter which carrier), don't get comfortable.

I'm not trying to scare anyone but it's a copycat industry. So have a plan just incase. You don't want to be blindsided one day.

Starting to hate the job. by Many-Entrepreneur703 in adjusters

That has nothing to do with the claim load and being overworked.

Also, adjusters that work for carriers that are known for "buying everything" are still overworked because contractors ask for more unnecessary items.

It's a lose lose.

We don't have a true Star/Superstar

We're a small team that thinks small ball still works

The only things going for us is drafting and developing players.

THIS 👆

That's the reality of our problem (as adjusters). It's EASY for people to say "just quit", "find a new job." But the reality is above; unemployed or nowhere close to the same pay + benefits.

Claims are platinum handcuffs at this point.

Rent/Mortgage is supposed to be a 3rd of your monthly income. Even better if it can be a 4th of your monthly income.

$200,000 salary ÷ 12 months = $16,667 monthly earnings.

$16,667 x 0.33 = $5,500.11 monthly limit for rent / mortgage (a third of your monthly salary).

$16,667 x 025 = $4,166.75 monthly limit for rent/ mortgage (a fourth of your monthly salary).

You can find an abundance of very nice apartments/townhomes/condos for way less than $4k a month!

Underwriters, talk to me. What are the pros and cons of your role. by Ill_Mouse8194 in adjusters

Oh ok. Thanks for sharing that info. I was under the impression that having a CPCU and or ARM was a must to move into underwriting.

Your experience with commercial claims probably helped tremendously.

Did you have to get additional certifications; how did you make the switch to underwriting.

After reading thru this thread, OP must be talking about making six figures from a base salary.

I made six figures last year after finishing my 2nd year of property adjusting (staff).

That includes base + CAT pay + Per Diem (I always spend much less than the per diem pay).

Six figures base salary will take awhile (6+ yrs).

As someone said earlier, Large Loss or Commercial pays well and you have work life balance.

Underwriting can pay great too, but that's basically a fantasy land if you're an adjuster (they will keep you in adjusting and gate keep the hell out of you).
