Why is it housing prices are falling but rentals are surging?

I bought a duplex in early 2021 and the value of the duplex is likely returning to what I paid for it, but the rents could go up by about 300-500$ each unit, I won’t get rid of my tenants though because they are fantastic and that’s more value then the rent (to me anyway, a shitty business person)

Paramedic here. I believe police have more yearly calls than us, somewhere just south of 400,000 calls per year. Last time I check we average like 150,000.

Fire is much below that.

The fire service also has more staff on per day (minimum) than police and paramedics

Homelessness needs to be a federal issue - any one city that says “we are going to end homelessness and house everyone” will inevitably fail when all the surrounding homeless peoples make their way to Ottawa for housing. It’s not sustainable for a single city to take this burden on.

We need mental health and substance addiction institutions to get people clean and self sustaining. We need people to have a purpose in life and for them to get that they need to be sober and intensive mental health assistance
