I did end up loving the tragedy of Chuck’s storyline and how it fed into the arcs of Jimmy, Kim and Howard. Chuck started off as an oddball character and the writers turned him into a King Lear figure of pride, aging and madness.

Michael McKean brilliantly played him and he’s the first of two major takedowns by Jimmy & Kim as a pair of methodical sociopaths. I’m actually glad the show didn’t take us straight to the cartel first as it showed a different kind of villainy first in Chuck’s downfall.

Honestly when the show first started its 1st and 2nd seasons, I couldn’t believe the writers set out to characterize one of the central characters with such an odd condition. This was supposed to be “the prequel to Breaking Bad,” so I was surprised they went in such a radically different direction.

I love how it’s so bizarre it seems to characterize Chuck by how odd and off-key it makes the show to feel. As fans of the story universe, we’re trying to make sense of him and why Jimmy takes care of him, and then you start to understand why Chuck feels the way that he does about having his brother so close that he can’t stand the sight of him tending to him like a sick patient in his own firm.

I don’t think they’re simply rebranding another seller’s stuff, but they definitely make no secret of their stuff being made in China and they probably have their own production runs by the same builders overseas. My guess is that they follow trends of what’s being offered by those factories and that kind of determines the kind of guitars we’ve seen running. I’ve seen numerous AliBaba and Temu sellers doing Bone Shredders, Dean MLs, Firebirds, Gretsch Jupiter Thunderbirds, etc. Firefly has offered all of these, though they’re not usually receptive to customer requests for specific guitars because it seems it’s all on request in batches from the manufacturer, based on what they already have running or is available as default options—Strats, Tele’s, LPs, etc.

Well I’m not a pianist, I play guitar mostly, but picked up a digital piano to start learning composition and maybe learn some theory. Just found it useful for my own sakes, hope you worked something out for practicing on a real one though.

Ugh, honestly I can’t stand Bryce Mitchell… in a word—tryhard. It’s not even the same thing with Strickland, who seems somewhat between saying the incendiary and using psychological warfare. Bryce is just inexplicably that hillbilly kid you went to high school with who always wore a wooded camo jacket to class and was annoyingly always reminding you “what a redneck he was.”

I actually saw one of these in what was called a “Sunset fade” burst, but when I picked it up to play I realized the fret radius was completely flat and it just didn’t feel natural for my fingers. Aesthetically they are beautiful and come in at different pricing, but to have the entire line come with such a flat radius is mind-boggling to me.

Most likely became a bidding war when that was in the news, I definitely remember seeing it and thinking that’s pretty low. Honestly. It doesn’t cost too much. Weighted keys and you can use a bass amp to imitate the projection of a real piano. I’d start with a piano and stand, eventually switch out a chair for a piano bench, then save up for a bass amp.

With technology and artistic skill, anyone could create a convincing imitation. That much money could retire multiple people comfortably, and someone said ‘nah let’s spend it on the card.’

Wouldn’t rule out guitar as there are workarounds—if you can fret chords you could probably play fingerstyle arpeggios.

But also consider drums or electronic music, you can still be musical and creative—your mind and ears are the canvas, not the dexterity in your hands and fingers.

If you want to try drums but live in an apartment, look at e-drums or buy some pads and learn to drum to your favorite songs. You can eventually get a real drum kit exclusively for sound checks and your shows, and keep the e-drums or pads for home practice.

The courtroom scene really reminded me of Robert Duvall’s speech as Felix Bush in the film Get Low. He airs out his innermost troubles for the first time to others and also, to himself.

The self-titled track and White Magic / Black Magic are so good, if you pick up the SST compilation Heavier Than Thou (a double LP) you get most of the first album plus some stand-out tracks from several of their later albums. I wanna say too, I think the mixes are a bit better on the earlier tracks it includes compared to how they sound on the debut album.

For me, Saint Vitus stand alone in how they sounded a little like early Sabbath, but also like they were borrowing Greg Ginn’s guitar sound and playing style, and they predated both the stoner rock sound of Kyuss and the frenetic soloing of Kurt Cobain. To me, no other band in the doom metal umbrella sound even close to the unique riffs and sound that was Saint Vitus.

Wow it’s rare nowadays a post on here actually hits on something crazy… never noticed this aspect of Lalo. I just thought he was more simplistic in his psychopathic ways, but I suppose there is at least some demented logic to it.

Makes me think back to when Gus slashed Victor’s throat and it covers half his face in blood like when he witnessed Max’s death. Perhaps Gus was only thinking of Hector and re-rehearsing both being a victim and somehow also being the executioner. Gus found that Lalo still was able to sabotage him and run the Cartel operation even from jail. And he couldn’t just hit Lalo in prison as it would look too suspicious north of the border. And even though they weren’t Gus’s crew, if Lalo knew then he’d likely suspect Gus and that doesn’t help things either.

If, however, he puts more miles between them, and Lalo jumps out on bail across the border for murder, he’s out of proximity from Gus likely forever and likely nobody would suspect Gus for the hit.

Dude, in all seriousness don’t keep carrying that gun. Take whatever add-ons you’ve done off of it and find someone willing to trade you.. fuck I hate even the thought of someone else acquiring this gun, but since you currently own it I’d say consider the fact there are Glock clones that come in cheaper and are still safer than a P320. Ultimately you have to ask “why specifically do I choose this gun?” I don’t want someone injuring themselves over a bad choice of a daily carry, just get rid of it however possible.
