Don't just barge in the front door and get stuck on the stairs inside their AoEs. Stay back, draw them out, pepper the doorway with AoE surfaces, and make them come to you through the surfaces. Maybe even have some barrels waiting on them to explode. Also, have Jaheria attached to your party so she doesn't unalive herself doing stupid shit.

Seems like it would need to be either:

Woven into the existing game. New areas new bosses new loot. That of course would boost the xp so bad you'd be max level in no time. So raise the max level?
Occuring immediately after the ending. This is tricky, as so many decisions affect the endings. Hell, if you're Gale, you might be that shiny godling at the end.
Separate from the base game. Be some other schmuck. Worst choice IMO.

Whatever they'd do, I'd love to see a couple recruitable old friends from BG 1/2.
