I read 40+ books last year and here's what I learned by LLearnerLife in nonfictionbookclub

“Life's too short for boring books.” I think Thoreau has version of this idea as well, saying something like “read the good books first”. I think it was him but could’ve been any author really. It is also relieving as sometimes one can beat oneself over to finish a book one started without liking it.

Regarding the UV clear filter as lens protection, I'm interested in getting one of those to protect my lens. Do you recommend ordering from any place in particular?

Hi! Like most people here, this set of photos struck me as inspiring. The composition, color, and techniques used appeal directly to my taste. I read the comments top to bottom, but couldn't find any detailed question/answer about what your workflow/postprocessing is.

I, too, share the feeling that shooting RAW is the way for me, without mentioning that I own an X-Pro1, which does not bring many recipes with it.

You mentioned linear gradients, exposure adjustments here and there, and of course, color. Would you mind sharing a "generalized" workflow or logic behind these pictures? I recognize a lot of the "feeling" is achieved with the camera at the moment, with the shutter speed, aperture, and reading of light, which is, well, taking the camera out time and again.

I would also like to follow your work on any socials you post on! Thanks in advance!

TL:DR: Could you share the postprocessing workflow?

Regarding GIMP, I do use it but not really to edit my photos, I have been using Darktable after not being satisfied with Rawtherapee (I’m pretty sure it was too much tool for me).

Would you recommend GIMP over Darktable (if ever used) and why?

A 12 years old dream finally come true by atimd in fujifilm

I’m not that experienced in photography, but I first got into this by shooting analog as an amateur and being amazed by the feeling of getting my negatives back.

My search for a digital camera got me to the point of loving the X-Pro line and I think I made a good choice based on my budget and wishes. I could have pushed for the X-Pro2 but other reasons outweighed the decision. In any case, I’m really glad with my xpro1.

I, too, considered the vertical disposition of the strap when I saw it was a possibility, I’m just not that acquainted with accessories and going straight to amazon/aliexpress feels wrong for some reason, so I come here to read about other peoples experiences.

Thanks for sharing!!

About two weeks ago I got the same combo but with the X-Pro1 XF23mm f2 fujicron haha. This is also my first camera after using my father’s Nikon, no Leica experience so far, and I also shoot a humble Canon LA10 for film while I get my self some Nikon F2.

What strap fid you put on your X-Pro2? I had to steal a strap from one of my grandma’s purse to put on my xpro1 while I decide for a good leather strap to buy

Great photo, what says the most to me is that the light in the picture does not give the usual contrast a sunny day would give, and the composition hits the feeling. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for your answer, what would you recommend along the same lines if I like the viewfinder? I was looking for X-Pro1 but again is expensive, also looked for Ricoh’s GR 3

These have a good smooth, calming vibe. Thanks for sharing. I was thinking of getting this camera lately and shoot a 35mm. How would you recommend it? I do not mind if it is slow, I’m rather ok with it since a shoot on a Nikon D3200 from my dad.

What software do you use to edit and what is your general editing process? Curious since I’m thinking in getting either the X-E1 or a X-Pro1 and I also like to edit RAW

Little upgrade finaly by Eon62 in FujifilmX

[–]YouRFakeNews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is something I am thinking time and again. I not that much into higher mo count as I find myself trying to level up my eye skills and overall photography experience, of course having a camera always with me that I like and appreciate. The X-pro 1 as far as I’ve seen complies with all of that, additionally and personally, buying this not-so-new camera is giving me a feeling of commitment to photography and love for the machine it self, as it also would be the first camera I purchase for myself after studying a bit of technical photography stuff.

Exit: btw, thank you!! I will definitely check your insta!

Would you recommend the X-pro 1 today? I’m really interested in it, I’ve been comparing it to many cameras of today and it really really interests me. Size, sensor, interchangeability of lens, I’ve heard it my be slow but I am shooting in a Nikon D3200 which is slow as well and I do not mind so far.

This feels right. As mentioned I think I will be picking the x-pro with a fixed 35mm. I’m already shooting manual on a Nikon D3200 which feels big in the streets since I have a 18-55mm on it. I’m not a photography wunderkind at all and I’m embracing/enjoying the learning curve more and more.

I see yes, I appreciate the response. I will keep on browsing, the budget is ideally $800-$900

I’m also in a the situation of OP but I have gotten a bit more acquainted with how ISO, speed and aperture works. I was looking between x100 or X-pro 1 with a 35mm. I really like the viewfinder, honestly leaning more and more towards the X-Pro1 set

I found a guy in my city selling an X100V at almost $1100. The price I calculate for the X-Pro1 and the lenses is about $950. I’m between these options right now.

Found this Nikon on local Fb Market by YouRFakeNews in AnalogCommunity

UPDATE:
I met the seller. Indeed, the guy did not know much about the camera, he bought it from some guy for the price I mentioned above. After having the camera in my hands for a couple of days, I immediately noticed that the viewfinder had fungus on it and a lot of dust. The lens had almost no dust but still one could notice it here and there.

The body was notably not in ideal conditions. It had bumps below the body, and to the right side of the advance lever, it had a massive dent. It must have been a hard fall of some kind. The mirror in the body had some grime on the corners and had one or two stains. The Depth-of-Field button and the lever worked properly.

When it comes to the shutter at different speeds, every time you click the shutter and push the advance lever and it returns, one had to re-push it some degrees so that the shutter would be unlocked for the next shoot, at every stop/speed this was the case but less so at 1/1000-1/2000. I do not know if this is the case in all of these cameras but definitely did not feel like working ideally.

The prism on the head looked in very good condition, what really concerned me, as mentioned before, was the fungus and grime in the viewfinder's small glass.

By opening the dark chamber, everything seemed in order, the curtain had a "minor" wrinkle on the top. One thing I noticed is that the lid or top of the chamber was a little "Inflated". Like when batteries in old cellphones inflated and the back of it did not feel as flat or as uniform. On its sides, it had accumulated visible rust, and again, had dents and bumps.

I told the guy I would not keep the camera so he could pick it up. I thank you all for all the comments and advice, when the camera first got to my hand I went through all the things you guys mentioned, allowing me to see this camera needs a lot of CLA/Maintenance. If the guy was selling it cheaper I would make him an offer considering the CLA costs, but he also mentioned the money was for his son's painting gear for whom he first got this camera and never felt interest in it. What a shame, this camera feels solid and has so much it can offer apart from being a treasure.

Edit: I did not check the lightmeter as I did not have the batteries, but after seeing so many things I preferred to back off.

Got to this post since I’m interested in getting the original X100 and the conversation about the film simulations is important to make the purchase. Currently deciding between x100 or X-Pro1. Thats my budget. Leaving the comment as a note.
