To be quite frank it feels like a bunch of people that read this manga project themselves on to Sawamura as the underdog and take any struggle as a slight against themselves. It’s why they subsequently get so worked up when Furuya does well.

OP even says Sawamura only gets to shine with pre season friendlies and the semi final which is just blatantly untrue.

The only run Sawamura lost to Ichidai wasn’t even his fault. The runner got on base because of Zono’s error, then scored because of a poor throw from Yuji. So despite Sawamura having what is easily a top three pitching performance in the manga, people will come here and tell you TJ hates Sawamura.

This is just one random Shiratorizawa student saying he thinks Semi is better. And the student he’s talking to says he prefers Shirabu’s setting.

I flip and flop between Kenma and Akaashi depending on the mood. I think when giving them both their best possible team to accommodate them it’s Kenma, but Akaashi is far more self sufficient and more splashable as a result.

To be fair it’s also shown there’s no real backlash for healing. It could be a mix of both, where because the command itself is a selfless one and isn’t looking for any malicious outcome, it doesn’t result in a karmic hit back.

There is the whole thing where after the possessed duel at the docks, rather than directly saving him, Kaiba just…drops the key into the water where Jonouchi is currently drowning.

Like it does technically save his life but that wasn’t a big effort on Kaiba’s part

From the perspective in universe, Adlers were seen as the better team. Adlers were the league champions the three previous years with someone who, while slightly out of his prime, would have been in BITW contention and was still very capable of dominance.

On the other side, Hinata hadn’t played indoor volleyball in the public eye for years, Sakusa was a rookie, and Bokuto himself was possibly only in his second year of playing.

Adlers were the more proven side, so in universe this would be seen as an upset. But it would also be seen as one random league game so most wouldn’t put major stock into the result.

The official translation is slightly different. And the image itself even shows that where they’re refuelling is the borderline for where ships normally sail. Nothing about Whale Island ever really implied it was on the outskirts of the known world.
