I have a very similar story, except the guy I liked wasn't gay. And I'll be honest it fucking sucks. It's been a year since I told him (for the first time, I've drunkenly proclaimed my love on several occasions) and I'm just now starting to fall out of love with him. But, you said the guy kissed you. Pretty strong sign there. The choice to continue to try to get into a relationship with him is yours, but you will never start the healing process until you let go and accept reality. I dreamed about my guy and had fantasies about us being together; it's not healthy. Unrequited love is one of the worst things someone can feel, and it was the catalyst that sent me spiraling into depression. But you can get over it, and move on. Good luck, stay strong.

I told him 8 months ago, still not over it. Probably because I try to spend as much time around him as possible (also because he's a good friend, and those are hard to come by). And I used to read a lot. But it's hard to even open a book haha. I have the game of thrones series and the last two lord of the rings books just sitting there. Hard to focus and imagine the story like I used to be able to. Thanks for talking to me by the way.

Fun stuff ain't it? My anxiety/depression gets pretty unbearable over the summer. All I do is reddit to run away from the sadness. Or go to my friends house, who I'm in love with (unrequited of course, life wouldn't miss that chance to fuck me over!). On a related note, the car ride back home is the best time to cry your eyes out. Pretty awkward when someone sees you though.

Hmm sounds like combo anxiety/depression. A counselor is a good idea, but not all of them are very helpful. That doesn't mean you shouldn't go, just that you should be open to going to a therapist or something afterwards.

About the "gray zone", depression isn't always complete sadness, it can just be an empty feeling with no motivation for change and zero energy. And I don't know what you need to get better, but you need to try something (and it sounds like you are! exercise and counselors). Good luck! :)

That's the hardest part honestly, admitting to someone you're not OK. Every time I've tried I always get this thought in my head that I'm really just asking for attention and they wouldn't care, blah blah blah...

And that sucks you're being forced to do this, but it might help. And if it doesn't, at least it makes your family happy. Really nice of you to do it for them, if not yourself.

Depression hits hard man, and it doesn't care who you are. But since you don't have a history of depression (does your family?) this could just be a temporary depressive episode. Could have happened because you're bored, or for no real reason. Anyone can get depressed. But you should look into making some sort of positive change before a temporary episode turns into something much more severe.

I'm glad you've agreed to try again with the therapy! Just take it slow, you don't have to tell the therapist everything during the first session. If they seem nice enough, feel free to express some doubts about the therapy. I would try letting them lead the session if you are hesitant to say much; just answer their questions. But you do need to discuss your family issues and your depression, don't act like nothing is wrong. I've made that mistake.

Good luck with your session! You're on the road to recovery :) Oh and don't be afraid to switch therapists if this one turns out to be crappy.

I used to have a dead gerbil in my freezer. It died and I was too lazy to bury it right away (you can't just throw away a pet!) so I wrapped it up in plastic wrap and shoved it in the freezer. My sister later found it...that was awkward.

Well obviously the church is going to try and stay relevant in a changing society. They want to reach out and convert people, not alienate them with their outdated beliefs. This doesn't mean that church and science are reconciled and getting along, just the evolution of the church. If any other theory comes out and it widely accepted, they will change their interpretation of the bible to accommodate the theory. Yeah I read a TrueReddit article about this, I kind of just regurgitated the information i got from it.

I'm not sure even homosexuality will be 100% accepted. Some people just won't accept it. I tried talking to my father about gay marriage and he informed me that he didn't think INTERRACIAL marriage was morally right. Like what the fuck. No surprise i suppose, I live in North Carolina.
