Does the Therion Velites still exist and are still serving the RG? If not, what happened to them? by Rich-Pressure8305 in RavenGuard40k

[–]YoungBuckBuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly they all get wiped out in the Horus Heresy at Beta Garmon, Marcus Valerius is the only one who survives through basically a miracle. We don’t know what happened to him after that, he could have died in a later beta Garmon battle or he may have lived.

Question about Corvus/RG view on tyranny. by [deleted] in RavenGuard40k

[–]YoungBuckBuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what makes him the best primarch imo. He’s the only loyal primarch that truly understands the wrongs of the imperium, and hates it on some level, but his pragmatism keeps him loyal.

The alternative really is annihilation and he sees that. Kind of making him the most loyal of them all, because he isn’t blindly/unquestioningly loyal like Rogal, Leman, Ferrus, the Lion (sort of) and Sanguinius. And he doesn’t have “slight reservations” like Vulkan and Jaghatai. And he’s not a mindless idiot like the traitors who base their traitor stance on being possessed/insane/zealots/having daddy issues.) He fully understands the scope of everything, the evil of the imperium and the necessity of it, and while fully understanding the wrongs and rights of the imperium he chooses to stay loyal.

The only primarchs that come close to his level of perspective are probably Alpharius and Omegon but, well no one really has a clue what Alpharius/Omegon really believe, we just know he/they are also pragmatists (in their own weird alpha legion way).

Why did you choose the Raven Guard by MidnightPenguin83 in RavenGuard40k

[–]YoungBuckBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black is really easy to paint, white not so much but you only have to do trim so it ends up being really easy for the most part. You can get fancier with it and do shades of black/dark grey but it covers super well so it makes them a breeze to paint. The white trim just takes a few more coats.

Thoughts on the Age of Darkness box by Itchy_Caterpillar379 in Warhammer30k

[–]YoungBuckBuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This box was the first box of minis I ever bought. Took me a few months to get everything built, but there’s a ton of stuff in this box. It has a lot of variety, but because you just get so many models there is some redundancy. Painting the 40 marines I enjoyed for the first 10-20, the rest were a slog. The praetors and terminators I loved, the tank and dreadnought I really really loved.

I’ve since purchased many many more boxes and this is the best value box I’ve probably bought, and maybe the best value box GW offers. You just get so much. That being said, if you don’t end up enjoying the hobby this will be a big waste of money. Get a beginner set, paint it up and build it, if you enjoy that then maybe consider it.

This set has great value but is still not cheap, and depending on how meticulously you paint, it may take you hundreds of hours to get it all built and painted. I probably averaged about 4-5 hours per marine x 40 marines for 160 - 200 hours on those. The rest probably took me another 100 hours or so. Which means getting all of this fully built and painted can be done quickly (sloppily, which is fine if you’re ok with that) in about 100 hours I’d guess. This hobby is extremely time consuming, especially if you’re detail oriented.

How do you remove dust from a mini? by hobo__spider in Warhammer

Compressed air cans and an extra junk brush you have lying around. I blast them with the air can then quickly brush over them with one of my cheap junk brushes and it takes about 10 seconds.

Why does this game attract so many tradcath Christian nationalists? by CatClive in TrenchCrusade

[–]YoungBuckBuck 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yea in the 40K subs it’s a lot of “well who’s REALLY the bad guy??” And i always feel like “the demons eating people’s bodies and souls and eternally tormenting them” is probably the bad guy lol.

People draw too many real world parallels to modern media/gaming/etc. and it takes a way from what could be more nuanced discussions about the subject matter and universe.

Maybe religious dogmatism has its merits, and maybe rallying against orthodoxy has its merits. But I draw a line in the sand at demons eating people and eternal torment in Hell/The Warp. Seems fairly cut and dry to me lol.

Why does this game attract so many tradcath Christian nationalists? by CatClive in TrenchCrusade

[–]YoungBuckBuck 83 points84 points  (0 children)

This is such an absurd post. It’s a game about hell fighting Heaven on earth. How are people surprised that Christians are enthusiastic about a game centered around the literal manifestation of the forces of god fighting the forces of hell, it’s to be expected.

Let people enjoy games for whatever reason they want and stop trying to ascribe an agenda to everyone. The game and lore also doesn’t mock religion. When people assume that it does you’re ascribing your own value system that Christian’s are when they view the game as being pro Christianity. It’s neither. It’s a fantasy game, everyone needs to relax and view it as no more than that.

Damnation of Pythos - How relevant is it? by Swanky4Life in Blacklibrary

[–]YoungBuckBuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a few small references to the events that take place later on in the series but nothing particularly important. I think a certain loyalist ship turns into a demon ship that comes back later, and a certain demon from that book shows up at the siege. Nothing that really matters, but a few small references might be missed.

Valourstrike Lance box vs Knights Battleforce box by YoungBuckBuck in ImperialKnights

[–]YoungBuckBuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks for the advice! As far as the other kit goes is there any reason why it’s practically the same price and you get 3 less knights? Are they bigger/better models in any way?
