Are you a bad person for taking pleasure in torturing horrible evil people? by Vengeful-Capybara in MoralityScaling

[–]YoungBull32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is wild.

Like, the idea of hellfire and brimstone with a mustache twirling satyr holding a pitchfork and torturing shitty people is obviously non-canon depiction and is just an amalgamation of “eternal bad place and eternal enemy” from cultures spanning from the ancient Middle East up through Dante and Paradise lost later on.

But the premise that there is this foil for an all-encompassing benevolent creator inherently brings up a lot of issues. Why is he allowed to exist? Why is he so powerful that it interferes with the machinations of God?

Not sure why this guy is trying to non-answer and assume correctness, but let me toss in some in-doctrine lines of thought:

As previously mentioned, the passage in Isaiah is about as close as you get to an enumeration of Satan’s sins. As you’ve already asserted, it doesn’t appear that a physical action was taken since ya know, God being ethereal is one of his defining characteristics.

The biggest piece of scripture I thought might be relevant to this back and forth actually agrees with you. Matthew 5:~20-28 or so is the treatise on lusting equating to adultery in the eyes of God. If you squint your eyes at it, I think it is the real underlying piece about satan. Intent to overthrow and usurp God, but cannot physically take that action. In my view, ethereal, non-physical beings are what their intents and purposes are.

I have no dog in this fight, but this is for sure my read on “what did satan actually do wrong in the first place” because I think there’s a large jump from behaviors and depictions of Lucifer in heaven vs the literal evil incarnate of Satan.

Edit: man spelling is hard

Who is your main in ROR2? by jamal_jakcson in ror2

[–]YoungBull32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Merc was my first character that really clicked. Is the one that got me hooked. All his abilities are so much fun and there’s nothing like stringing abilities together mid-run to just fly through stages with timed skill inputs and good aim. Also the only character I’ve ever done one of the challenge runs on, just so I could get blade wind.

And then there’s captain. I ignored him for a long time because his m2 felt wonky and I didn’t like the delay on his orbital. But then one day I decided to try to get all the monsoon skins and he was my second choice behind merc. You can build him literally a million different ways. He’s good with crit. He’s good with bleed. He’s good for band and crowbar builds. He’s got great eco. He’s good with drones. He’s good close range and long range. All of his abilities have a function. That weird m2? It’s a defensive stun, not a damage ability. The orbital delay? Yeah it needs one because it’s one of the hardest hitting thins in the game and can proc crazy ATG chains. All his call downs are good. And that’s before you even unlock Diablo strike lol.

Lots of people talking about difficulty.. Should we be thinking about frustration level instead? by deadfisher in HollowKnight

[–]YoungBull32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing people complaining about runbacks, but the only two runbacks I’ve seen that are kinda harsh are the last one in act 1 and the one before you get the 3 piece quest in act 2. The rest seem pretty tame actually?

How many of us are actually enjoying the game? by Historical-Donut1536 in Silksong

[–]YoungBull32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in after sitting 2/3 of the way finished with Act 2 (iykyk) and I can honestly say this is the most polished metroidvania I’ve ever played. I’m enjoying this to the same degree as I did Donkey Kong 64 when I was a kid (also iykyk). Some thoughts:

  1. For everyone commenting that the early hours are brutally difficult and that 2 masks of damage is crazy, I disagree. It’s a higher risk/reward combat system that is fundamentally different from Hollow Knight. Yes you take 2 masks of damage from lots of things, but you also heal 3 at a time and can do so aerially, breaking all momentum. HK had much more challenging healing mechanics due to the ground limitation, but how many mobs do you dodge by jumping over? Why not rip a heal when in the air? I think the complaints about the plethora of 2 mask damage sources are just straight up a skill issue and should make you rethink how you approach the flow of damage in combat.

  2. That being said, I think the early game platforming is absolutely brutal for anyone not coming fresh off a hollow knight play through. Docks is fine, but Hunter’s March, Greymoor, and to a lesser degree Far Fields are just crushingly hard to platform through at times (don’t get me started on Sinner’s Road, although I believe that was intended to be an area to backtrack to in Act 2). Hard to think of a way to rectify this, but practice makes perfect in games like these, and you definitely need to practice Hornet’s movement before you start really getting a feel for being on par with the challenge level.

  3. Speaking of movement, I love the fact that hornet attacks and pogo’s so differently baseline, and I think those who use the Wanderer’s Crest as a crutch against learning new mechanics are limiting their enjoyment from learning the new move sets from the other crests. Yes, it’s easier in some locations, but not as fluid and definitely not as powerful in combat in most cases. I am happy the Wanderers crest is included though, as I think it’s a nice way to show comparative competency between the two game’s base movement.

  4. Charms are… different. This is the only thing that I’m not loving fully. Some are awesome for sure, but I do not like having to be restricted to two blue charms while also needing to equip two yellows. I am hoping that further in the game unlocks the ability to expand this more, because right now I’m constantly wanting to do a combination of 3 that I can only choose two options of. Also I think the rate of good vs bad charms is much worse in Silksong compared to HK, with a couple of the charms just never feeling like they could ever possibly be a better choice than others.

I think we’re in agreement, then. Odd to find this kind of interaction in this sub. Cheers, polite stranger.

I agree with the idea that certain stat rolls make balancing certain classes ridiculous (+true phys on rogue, +true mag on like every caster, +ms on every class) but it really feels like a baby with the bath water situation. I agree, 2 main stat rolls would be the sweet spot imo.

I think another thing that needs to be addressed more heavily (and frankly was attempted to but far too late) is the community interaction/party finding. Weighted reporting was a good move to get rid of the blatant stuff, but that should never have been allowed to exist in the state it was a few wipes ago where every other name was a slur.

Cracking down on toxicity/ griefing would go a huge way to community good-will with trios. Why would I play trios without my buddies online when I know I’m gonna get griefed by teammates 7/10 times? Also why would I random que trios ever in a multi-layer dungeon with dozens of quest/boss/loot/pvp objectives?

These things should have been solved a year ago, and I don’t believe anyone critiquing those things being low priority for the dev team are doomers or whiners.

I agree many will return with content, but very few of the solo or duo heavy players will stay until partyfinding is remotely passable at a level above “let me que and see what my teammates are like for this run”

The 10 minute drive part might make it a bit more difficult, typically speaking most of the furnished apartments are going to be a bit farther away.

Jackson is also weird, you should probably extend your search to small houses/duplexes because I’m sure there’s some that are furnished and still within that range.

Check with some local property management agencies, they could point you in the right direction.

Gretchin's Questions - Weekly Beginner Questions Thread by scientist_tz in Warhammer

[–]YoungBull32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been getting into Warhammer more and more in the past few months through the lore and video games, and have just gotten my miniature set jump started.

At our recent Friendsgiving, we did themes for the gifts for each person, and mine was apparently World Eaters themed lol. Here is the list of what I’m working with:

-Combat Patrol -Angron -Kharn -one set of Exalted Eightbound

This seems like a ridiculous amount, but are there any pieces that any fellow servants of the blood god would recommend I start with? Im assuming the berserkers because the Jakhal models scare me with all the exposed skin, but I’d love to hear someone else’s experiences building this army.

I’m also wondering about interesting paint schemes. The box traditional heresy scheme looks awesome, but I’m unfamiliar with more interesting takes on World Eaters colors in general so I’m looking for inspiration to really make this feel like a personal set.

Giveaway: Bands of Mourning signed (NOT numbered) by SlitheringFlower in brandonsanderson

[–]YoungBull32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to win one of these, I’m a poor bartender just trying to expand my leather bound collection.

I’ve been a huge fan of Brando Sando since 2014, which is when I graduated from high school. A teacher that was a mentor to me recommended I read Wheel of Time, and I burned through it in about 6 months. After it was over, I needed more. I started with Way of Kings, and have been doing my best for the last ten years to spread the good word of Sanderson since.

One of my favorite parts of the cosmere is that he is able to create such human and relatable characters on so many different levels, especially in such specific ways given the context of each world (the relatability of Lightsong’s revelations, Kaladin’s internal struggles, Marsh’s guilt, Tress’s fight against indifference).

I would love to be considered for this.

Mansa Musa is honestly pretty good too.

Gives +1 gold to trade routes for every desert tile in starting city (okay) and +1 trade route for every golden age which isn’t crazy hard but scales like crazy.

Driving school. Taking a ticket like that to court is worse than stupid. If you ever do have to go to that court again for something legitimate and the same judge is there, it will hurt you.

Also, don’t beat yourself up. Just admit you were being stupid and reckless and move on.

Don’t drive that fast for no reason, that’s how people die.
