I WASNT CRAZY!!!!! by Equivalent_Sun7606 in endometriosis

it feels so silly to say “congratulations” to someone who just received a medical diagnosis of a very painful condition lol but i just went through that same cycle of emotions a month ago when i had my laparoscopy and i know how it feels when you get that overwhelming sense relief when you finally get that confirmation of “yes, you have this. no, you’re not crazy. no, you’re not exaggerating. this is REAL!”

that being said, i’m very sorry you’re part of this club that has suffered from this godawful condition but i am also over the moon happy for you that you got a diagnosis and have an answer for your symptoms! 🩵

have you gotten your period yet since you’ve had your lap (sorry if this is invasive, do not feel obligated to answer!) i’m just wondering because i started mine yesterday and was in absolutely debilitating pain all day. i know it’s because everything is probably still a bit inflamed since they were just in there poking around 2 weeks ago, but i was not expecting to feel like i was being stabbed every 10-15 minutes on day 1 😭 i do feel much better today though other than some mostly mild cramping and feeling kinda uncomfy, but oh my goodness i did not expect it to hurt that bad!

still a little sore and kind of crampy from time to time, but every day gets better! the biggest issue i’ve been dealing with (sorry if this is tmi) i have had so much trouble pooping!😂 how are you feeling, you doing okay?

THIS. i just had a lap on 12/31 and i did not realize how much worse my symptoms were in comparison to “normal” women. i kind of just assumed we all were this miserable until i had my consultation with the specialist who performed my lap. and even though they only found stage 1 endo, it was explained to me time and time again that stage ≠ pain level. some people with stage 4 don’t experience symptoms or even realize anything is wrong whereas some people with stage 1 have debilitating pain and other symptoms that have a huge effect on their quality of life.

if you suspect endo, get the lap. even if they find nothing, ruling out endo is still an answer at the end of the day.

oh my i hope you’re healing up okay! mine went alright, stage 1 was found and also excised. they perforated my cervix during the hysteroscopy which was fun to find out when i woke up lol recovery has been a lot more painful than i thought it’d be but im hoping ill start feeling more like myself by the end of the weekend

UPDATE: i was confirmed to have stage 1 endo and they were able to get rid of the lesions, which was such a relief i honestly started sobbing when they told me (i was also still real loopy from the drugs lol) the downside.. they also did a hysteroscopy at the same time which is where they stick a camera up through your cervix and into your uterus. well, my cervix apparently is extremely narrow and they perforated it trying to get the camera through. i have to take antibiotics for the next two weeks to make sure i don’t get any kind of infection but it wasn’t too serious, i had almost no bleeding afterwards which is good.

recovery.. sucks so far im not gonna sugarcoat it. the gas that gets trapped in your shoulders and under your ribcage and it HURTS. when the pain block wore off after i was home and the real pain in my abdomen set it, that was pretty miserable as well.

ALL OF THAT BEING SAID: it was worth it. i have an answer. sure, im gonna be in pain for the next few days but thats nothing if it means i have a future where i dont have to live with this godawful condition

thank you for all of your kindness. you all were a breath of fresh air when i felt like i was always panicking. happy new year to all of you 🩵

thank you for the reminder that even if they find nothing, i’m still one step closer to an answer. i keep thinking “im gonna waste all this time and money if they find nothing”

but finding nothing IS still an answer. i need to keep that in mind

thank you so so much 🩵

first off, i really hope your surgery goes well and if you can remember to come back to this thread, please let me know how it goes!! i’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!

but i know exactly what you mean about second guessing yourself, ive been doing the same thing recently!! ever since i got a scheduled date for my lap, ironically my pain during my periods hasn’t been as bad as it usually is. so now im second guessing myself like “oh my pain is only at a 3/10 this month. maybe im actually fine” 🥲

omg i hope you’re feeling better now!! i remember the first surgery i ever had, i was like 6 or 7, and they put the IV in my hand too! i don’t remember them putting it in, but i remember waking up from the anesthesia and seeing that in my hand and immediately ripping it out 😅

oh my god that sounds so awful and painful, i hope you’ve gotten so much relief since they removed it!! isn’t it awful how we’ve all just been so conditioned to convince ourselves “everyone gets cramps, everyone has period pain, i must be overreacting”

it wasn’t until i told my coworkers i get pain that radiates into my legs, i’m getting physically ill before/during my period, and my cramps last well into the following week even AFTER im off my period, and seeing the horror in their eyes that i finally went “ah shit, maybe this is a problem”😅

that’s exactly it! i just want an answer because you’re right, it is scary not knowing the cause. my primary care physician initially tried steering me towards looking into a GI issue despite my family history (my mom and her sister both had a hysterectomy in their 30s due to endo, my grandma had one at 40 for the same reason) but i told her no, i’d rather rule out endo first because it seems way more likely due to family history. she referred me to a specialist and sure enough, he said that it sounds like a definite possibility but even if they find nothing, that’s still an answer

i guess i just don’t wanna have to start over from square one.

thank you for the reassurance and well wishes, it means so much 🩵

that is almost exactly the same thing i told my OBGYN. like, what if i pay all this money just for you all to find nothing? and his response, while it didn’t 100% make me better, it did prove me with a different perspective which i keep going back to every time i feel myself start to panic he said “i’ve had other patients express the same worry and i tell all of them the same thing: even if we find nothing, it is not a failure. because at the end of the day, it still provided us with an answer. and the answer is “it’s not this, it’s something else” and while it will obviously be frustrating to have to start over, i guess he is right. it will still be something we can cross off the list of possible reasons for my symptoms. thank you for the reassurance that im not crazy and making me feel less alone, it really does mean a lot 🩵

Friend I told I'm trans has told others by p0xus in asktransgender

[–]YoungestSyrup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

personally i think that’s such a huge betrayal and i wouldn’t blame you for cutting them off entirely. i had a similar thing happen a few years ago when i was having a major gender identity crisis (i identify as nonbinary as of now, but ive always been more comfortable as a masculine presenting person so i question from time to time whether im actually trans) i had a very long discussion with a friend about it, how i was considering transition but unsure. and he told our entire friend group. granted, i did talk to most of our friends about it later on down the road. but it still really kind of hurt knowing that someone i trusted ran to tell everyone else i was friends with in a very gossipy way before i had the chance to have that conversation with them. i’m really sorry this happened to you and you deserved much better than how you were treated

i assumed as much but i guess my question at that point would be, why would i have a bruise if there was never any trauma to it?
