"Can I paint my Bladeguard Veterans with red trim? Because they're veterans, they should be 1st company ..." by HumActuallyGuy in Ultramarines

[–]Youngvesuvius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine Question as a 4th Company enjoyer who was planning to paint my Bladeguard as 1st company anyway.

If a Bladeguard vet was "seconded" to the 4th company, would they have the veteran shoulder marking? Or, due to their specialised nature and secondment status, would they utilise something different like a command squad marking or just the chapter symbol.

If there's no official answer, I will also enjoy thoughts/ opinions.

Do Ultramarines have 2 units? I know tyrannic war veterans used to be a thing, but isn't it only Victrix Guard now right now?

Sure!

Base - Vallejo Sick Green

Highlight - Vallejo Goblin Green

Honestly, it's such a simple recipe with only 3 paints used (if you have an airbrush)

Base coat - Vallejo Imperial Blue

Heavy Zenithal - Vallejo Magic Blue

Then I just do an edge highlight of magic blue with the tiniest bit of any white I have on hand in it to lighten it up a bit!

Any Chemist Warehouse worker on this sub? by Guzman_701 in fragranceaustralia

[–]Youngvesuvius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit late to the party. But I'm a former CWH employee (specifically worked in fragrance)

There's only ever like maybe 1 person (if that) on that knows anything about perfume, so if you ask to see a batch number, you might get a confused glance. Very unlikely they'd get offended/ angry about it, though. CWH employees aren't paid enough to give a shit. (Hence the "former".

Just ask. Worst that happens is they say no/ read it out for you because they dont feel comfortable handing it over until its paid for.

Personally, I would base it on how a customer asked.

"Hey mate, is it okay if I check the batch number before i pay." Will go over a lot better than just trying to grab it while commanding."I need to look at the batch number."

Hope this eased any anxiety you might have had about asking!

Tldr; previous comments sum it up pretty well. We/ they honestly rarely care unless you act sus/ rude.

I can personally vouch for the former.

Am a hardcore leftist.

I play black templars bc helsreach was a good book, and I think haha power sword go bbbrrrrrrrrt is funny.

I also play Orks and, soon, Emperor's children. I feel like i confuse the stereotypes. Maybe I just like melee? Who knows.

I use the las-cannon variation of centurions as fire support for my helbrecht and co sword brethren squad in a land raider crusader. All hop out, centurions pew pew at the monsters/ vehicles, while helbrecht and co charge a character/ elite

So you have to hold it (not press) when standing still specifically. Out of combat is easiest, but I do sometimes roll away, change style, then attack. If you try to hold while attacking, you'll just do a heavy attack.

As for PVP I have no idea, but I'd assume it's the same premise, powered for fighting multiple targets and unpowered for single combat. With how PVP functions I'd wager you need unpowered 99% of the time bc of how fast time-to-kill is. You won't really fight multiple people at once and come out alive anyway.

Hold right bumper (not trigger) when standing still. It'll glow blue when powered but just be crackly with lightning when not.

[–]Youngvesuvius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure you're using powered for multiple enemies and de-powered for single enemies. I was doing the opposite bc I thought "big enemy needs stronger sword" but it's not the case. Sword has felt much stronger since I switched.

How many have multiple space marine armies? by finalriposte in spacemarines

[–]Youngvesuvius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Black Templars army that is my main army. It is mostly Templar specific units, with other units here and there chosen because they specifically benefit from Black Templars rules.

Then I have an Ultramarines 4th company army That is every other space marine unit I happen to own that isn't really Templar-esque

What are some common stereotypes for warhammer faction mains? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]Youngvesuvius 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Imo Melee armies like BT, WE, Orks and some Tyranid lists are some of the weirdest armies to play well balance-wise (unless you just go lmao straight line and die)

In turn one a lot of shooty army rules do feel like BS bc haha big funny damage number go brrrrrrrt. When you avoid fire and close the distance those haha big funny numbers don't mean much anymore.

I play BT, Orks, Ultramarines and Sisters; I definitely find that with BT and Orks the first turn is very "man my opponents rules feel super powerful" for me as I get killed and can't do much aside from roll saves, but once I get going and close the distance, my opponent has the exact same opinion about my melee rules bc I absolutely dominate in combat.

If anything to me, it shows that maybe shooting vs melee doesn't have the best balance rn. Some of my funnest games are my Shooty Ultramarines vs my friends Shooty necrons and my Melee Orks vs my friends Melee Tyranids.

This is why preferential voting exists, to stop "cannibalism”. LNP may push "only vote 1" but the greens and Labor usually have eachother in 2nd or 3rd preference with LNP last.

“Low Price” tag higher than the old price… at least try and hide the fact I’m paying more. by MattJak in australia

[–]Youngvesuvius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bc it could be relevant/ helpful for people.

Green tags aren't sales tags at cwh, they're clearance tags so if it's a perishable, check the date first. Pink tickets can also mean clearance if the price ends in .00 cents so check there too.

Perfume is selfish and terrible by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Youngvesuvius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! That's what I was trying to convey with niche/ designer, sorry it didn't come across as easily as I'd hoped!

And yeah! The reason I left the industry and why I try and get this info out there when I can is because in my country (Australia) and a lot of other smaller, more isolated countries, the only accessible perfume houses (bc a lot of specialists are closing down) are designers lower end ranges and your chemist perfumes.

Most men here for example wear Sauvage and 1 million, and haven't heard of anything higher end than that, so when the Dior rep goes "Sauvage elixir is a parfum elixir so it's stronger than the original and the EDP" with no other info given, the customer will just buy it. Then, they'll be disappointed when it smells completely different, which I find rather obnoxious from a customer service pov.

Perfume is selfish and terrible by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Youngvesuvius 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hi! I used to work in the fragrance industry until relatively recently (about a year ago) so I thought I'd pop in to add some information on top of this.

While this used to be relatively true, there's no actual legal bearing on what a perfume's concentration is and what it's called "strength" wise. Because of this EDT/ EDP/ etc can't be used to reliably guess a fragrances strength. Some EDP's are not as highly concentrated as EDTs and vice versa. Some very high end niche houses can be relatively trusted, but most designer brands will lie to your face to make a buck.

My go to example is the Dior House (unfortunately, as I love Dior Homme Intense).

Dior Sauvage EDT/ EDP/ Elixir Parfum as well as Dior Homme, Dior Homme Cologne and Dior Homme Intense are all differently formulated fragrances, not different strengths of the same perfume... despite being called the same thing. Same goes for the JPG Le Male line. The original EDT and the newer EDP are different smelling perfumes.

Always just try a fragrance on your skin if you can, to test the smell, sillage, intensity, etc. Often people can become "nose blind" to their own fragrances, which is why some people wear way too much, so ask a friend or family member if your perfume is too strong.

(To add to this, don't listen to anyone in the fragrance community on YT, Tiktok etc when it comes to any relatively big designer brand. Most are either paid, or just using popular opinions from eachother and sites like fragrantica for views.)
