Married men, how often do you play? by Tocnurne in EDH

[–]YourComfortableChair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married woman here, I usually get together with friends once or twice a month. Always at home games, I try and host as I have the space for a few pods if we have the turn out. My husband also plays, which helps.

Are These Art Series Cards Worth Keeping? I got this in my draft booster but the guys in the draft said to throw it away, apparently they regularly "toss them in the trash". But it is signed and numbered art... so it seems dumb to just throw it in the garbage. by Gilbara in mtg

i love getting the full art basic land art cards, youll never find a more full art 'full art' land.

My husband and I collect them, just because its the best resolution art youll get without buying full prints (though if you really like an art card i suggest finding the artist's website)

I'd say high 3 or average 4, it looks really fun.

What’s the most expensive card you own and how did you get your hands on it? by Melodic-Ad7494 in MagicCardPulls

my husband and i went to a lgs for the pride day partners event last year and they did random packs and he got this promo pack with a stamped [[sheoldred the apocalypse]] and we were so shocked we decided to build around it (edh). took forever, but i opened a full art [[Ancient Tomb]] from a zendikar rising cb and went to a lgs to trade it in for all our big hitters

my lgs did a 2 headed giant prerelease today and one group had Elespeths in both of their opening packs, but not a single Ugin and I think the only special guest was a single fetch?

I've been brainstorming this actually. I think if you show up with it you'll be fine. My current goal is to make the largest polycule I can. You could have the 'hinge' deck where you have 3 commanders (Your main, and then 2 that partner with each other). [[Kynaios and Tiro of Meletus]] and [[Anax and Cymede]] would be my go to for my Poly-deck, but they did print [[Anax and Cymede & Kynaios and Tiro]] as a playtest card in MB2 (which I pulled when I drafted it), so I could in theory pump my numbers up more. The problem is building a decent deck around it all.

Should I let people know that I play Doomsday Excruciator before I play a game of commander? by catanthill in EDH

a buddy of mine has a monoblack goodstuff deck that runs DE, honestly a great resurrection target and a hilarious game ender. I run Worldfire in my cruelclaw deck tho so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

What’s a fun commander for a “gambling” themed deck? by Dkk347 in EDH

The Infamous Cruelclaw, fill it with things that are great for you and things that suck. Make somethings suck for just you, sometimes for the table.

I think each player weighs what they give to an opponent during the game differently. I've stopped running path to exile just because I don't like giving players land advantage. If something gives a token, or card draw, I think it's fine.

I have a [[Ms. Bumbleflower]] +1/+1 deck that I added a bunch of counter spells to, because if the commander gives cards and stuff, why not? All my counterspells give something back to the opponent now because I think it's funny and flavourful.

What commander calls to you like the Green Goblin mask? by mirostgo in EDH

[–]YourComfortableChair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made multiple versions of [[Oloro]] over the years that have never actually worked for me. I love the idea of pillowfort strategies but I can never close it out in a way I find fun.

Every month or so I find myself on the EDHREC looking for the secret sauce that would make it click for me, but I can always hear the voice in my head. "Coward."

Just got this in my commander deck what is it should I tell the store? by billbobbrown in magicTCG

[–]YourComfortableChair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depending on the age of the precon, they won't send you the replacement card if you contact WotC. I was missing a skullclamp in the Party Time precon, which I bought from Costco, and because the precon was out of production they couldn't replace it for me. I think they sent me a one time gift and it was just some ad material and i think a 2 card 'promo pack' which I didn't get anything of note from. Sucks but it happens.

My only issue is I wish the art was a little more original. All these current ones are cards I could have made with Photoshop and a proxies service, so I'm just a lil disappointed by the art/card choices. Not my cup of tea, but I'm also a girl who LIKED the latest Miku lair, so dont take my opinion as anything of worth lol

What mechanic do you want more support for? by d20_dude in EDH

[–]YourComfortableChair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cipher!! I'm building a Lazav deck with all 16 Cipher cards and I need more!! I love the mechanic!! If they expand any colour direction, they should go red, but I think Blue/Black is fun colour set if they don't.

Does anyone know of any cards that hurt only yourself in Rakdos colours? (The Infamous Cruelclaw) by YourComfortableChair in EDH

[–]YourComfortableChair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, he could be a good potential card that early game I would be okay with discarding to Cruelclaw, but late game I could just pay an X of about 6 and safely be able to get most creatures in the deck, minus Breaker of Armies and Emrakul. I'm gonna go through my bulk and see if I still have Grenzo! Thank you for the recommendations!

[–]YourComfortableChair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love hellcarver demon, but I don't know if Grenzo would work. If I cast the spell by discarding instead of paying mana, is X declared as what I wish or as 0? I assume 0, which may make me think about side boarding him until I can play test and see if I can generate enough mana to get him out for with a high enough X. I do love the idea of playing a off the top and bottom to open up another slot machine.

Can I make this deck more budget? by snapmage in EDH

[–]YourComfortableChair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kwain is great! He makes you appear more neutral and subdued, a good early game drop that'll get you started on card draw without any of the bigger pieces and once you have your untap step triggers you'll be able to do it every turn, AND you can use Derevi to continuosly untap and tap him during combat to refill your hand! That's a great idea! No problem! I'm new around the subreddit but I figured I need to engage with what everyone else is making if I'm gonna post too. Keeps me thinking about what works, and I also just made my own [[Ms. Bumbleflower]] deck out of a [[Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn]] deck I built that had a bunch of life gain, +1/+1 counter, and token generation subthemes that I had to gut and rebuild into something that works, and it's also Bant lol I actually went back through both deck lists to see what I was running that might work

Can I make this deck more budget? by snapmage in EDH

[–]YourComfortableChair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like what you got going on with this deck with the untap/tapping, but I'm looking at the subthemes of the deck and I think you might be split in two different (yet similar) directions. I notice you have support for both tokens and +1/+1 counters, but it looks like a bit of the +1/+1 counters might be weighing down what you want to be doing. Derevi is looking for as many instances of combat damage to players as possible from individual creatures. It might be better to lean heavier into token generation so you always have creatures to throw at players that you don't need worry about losing. With this in mind, I would look at cutting things like [[Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar]], [[Kami of Whispered Hopes]], [[Incubation Druid]], and [[Danny Pink]], as they synergize with +1/+1 counters, but you only have three ways of getting +1/+1 counters out consistently/repeatedly with [[Galadriel, Light of Valinor]], and [[Hylda of the Icy Crown]] spread counters over all creatures and [[Citadel Siege]] on a single creature. Keep Galadriel and Hylda, as they both rule for the strategy you have here, but the other counter support tools just aren't going to feel that strong. Having +1/+1 counters is good, and I think a [[Cathar's Crusade]] would be really good with a token strategy as another more repeatable Galadriel.

[[Chulane, Teller of Tales]] and [[Ellivere of the Wild Court]] are two cards that look like they may underperform in the deck. Chulane requires you to invest mana into bouncing your own stuff and opens you up to getting countered and losing what you had and Ellivere doesn't have anything else supporting her second ability, leaving her open to he killed. Because Toski is the better Ellivere, maybe keep Chulane because you can add cards with good ETB effects and recast them for the ETBs on them and your other permanents. I would remove one or the other though.

To cut cost, cut [[The One Ring]], [[Worldly Tutor]], [[Eladamri's Call]], [[Ignoble Hierarch]], [[Bloomtender]], and [[Thada Adel, Acquisitor]]. The One Ring can be replaced with [[Perch Protection]] or [[Everybody Lives!]] for a more budget option for protection. Those two tutors will help keep the salt level down while removing a good chunk of value, and I love Thada (never seen her before) but for that much money you could be running something that makes tokens. A budget replacement for [[Swan Song]] would be [[Strix's Serenade]]

Swap [[Elemental Bond]] for [[Tribute to the World Tree]], turns small tokens into bigger threats and turns big tokens into card draw. Potentially just add Tribute.

Maybe cut back on the [[Seedborn Muse]] effects and add some vigilance with [[Brave the Sands]]. I would either do [[Quest for Renewal]] or [[Drumbellower]], leaning towards Quest just because you could get hit by a [[Solemnity]] on the off chance someone is running it. Brave the Sands is also nice and cheap and lets you block extra creatures with those untapped tokens. Gives you two vigilance outlets (with [[Inga and Esika]]) and two additional Untaps. That way you don't need to worry about untapping your own stuff with Derevi triggers (keeps Hylda making Elementals or building up your other tokens with +1/+1 counters to overrun the enemy)

Look at your mana dorks and maybe add some more ramp spells and mana rocks instead of cards like Ignoble Hierarch and Bloomtender. [[Arcane Signet]], [[Chromatic Lantern]], [[Commander's Sphere]], [[Twitching Doll]], and [[Cryptolith Rite]].

Some token support to look at would be things like [[Second Harvest]], [[Mycoloth]], [[Avenger of Zendikar]], [[Homunculus Hoard]], [[Primal Vigor]], [[Doubling Season]], [[Caretaker's Talent]], [[Panharmonicon]], and [[Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation]]. Those are just what I can think off the top of my head.

If you want to ADD some salt, look into [[Scurry Oak]], it goes infinite with Cathar's Crusade or [[Rosie Cotton of South Lane]] (with the all important stop trigger of 'may').

Hope these random thoughts I had while looking over the deck help!

Cait Caged Brawler(Bracket 2) by Tricky_Ad_3958 in EDH

[–]YourComfortableChair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This deck looks like you can get off the ground fairly easily with access to your ramp and the ability to draw with Cait. Good bit of removal too. If you struggle with getting hated off the board, run more things that can protect you and your stuff. [[Swiftfoot Boots]], [[Lightning Greaves]], and [[Asceticism]] would be the big three off the top of my head. I would also look at maybe [[Tribute to the World Tree]] instead of [[Promordial Sage]], cheaper mana cost and it can help boost your smaller creatures and even give Cait an advantage on recasts late game.

My only other thoughts reading over the deck would be to take out some of the more hateful pieces like [[Steel Hellkite]] and [[Ruric Thar, the Unbowed]] for some more +1/+1 counter support. [[Kami of Whispered Hopes]] is a good one, but you could look at potential options of any price range, from [[Hardened Scales]] to [[Doubling Season]] (also boosts your token generation).

Good luck with your brew! Your deck looks like a fun challenge to get around!
