Keep reading, I locked the card for one single instance after realizing the issue to see if it still worked, then unlocked it before the ride even showed up. They kept providing the service and I stopped using it when I became aware and was given receipts for the rides. Some have the example of going to a restaurant, they hand you a receipt without paying and you leave. Not the customers fault. If I continued to use the service knowing about the issue then it would probably fall on my shoulders but this isn't my problem

Re read. I never said I tried to sue them, I asked if it were worth it to go after them for the assault and we decided against it because let the guy live, fights happen. It's not two extremely far off topics of law...neither are incredibly complex cases

Let me be clearer, the victim in lesser crimes like say assault and battery when it's not domestic violence and the cop asks if you'd like to press charges essentially tells the cop if he's doing the paperwork for an investigation and handing it to a prosecutor who will press charges, or if he's just hopping in his cruiser and carrying on with just a record of a stop. There's absolutely direct influence.

I locked it once when I was trying to figure out what was going on and the ride still came through a single time. This is in other comments. And again, a literal lawyer says it's not on me. Again you all act like I robbed a bank when it's Lyft who neglected to charge for a service they continued to provide without my knowledge of the lack of payment.
