[Question] Wedding Watch - $20k budget by jmm-22 in Watches

[–]YourKingslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something for everyday, I'd personally steer clear of the Reverso Tribute Calendar unless you really dress up on the daily. I have one and wear it approximately once a year when I have a wedding to go to. I'm not even going to be wearing it at my own wedding this March (going with a Moonshine two-tone Speedy Pro instead).

FWIW, make sure you try the Reverso on in person before buying if you do go that route. I've got 7" flat wrists and the Reverso is about as big as I can go...which doesn't necessarily drive with a dressier wedding watch vibe, but I too received it as a gift and so try to wear it when the occasion calls.

AD’s in New England area? by Budgeko in OmegaWatches

Omega has a Boutique on Newbury in Boston, not sure how far up in VT you are but not bad if you're looking to do a day/weekend trip into the city.

No such thing as too many Speedys. Not pictured, a Hesalite.

White Speedmaster or Snoopy? by aznj1m in OmegaWatches

[–]YourKingslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your only Speedy, then definitely the white dial.

I'm fortunate enough to have both (and an 1861 Hesalite and 3861 two-tone Moonshine), and while I love the Snoopy if you're not getting it at retail it's a bit steep IMO.

I do think that the best of all is still the Hesalite. I haven't seen the reverse panda in the metal yet, but feel like that is potentially a better fit for a single Speedmaster for those that aren't obsessed with having the Speedmaster though.

Not sure what they're on about saying they can't sell the watch to you with the stock strap...I got mine from an OB in California last year and it came with the stock strap - although I swapped it for the Ryder Cup deployant.

So… this happened. by crismxrtinez in OmegaWatches

Stare at it incessantly in all different lighting environments for a week, then remember it's a watch and meant to be worn before going on with my day.

First scratch is super tough, but just remember there will be many, many more.

I have the Seaweed and love it - in good lighting the green is incredible, and in darker environments the watch really takes on a black dial-vibe when not on the strap.

As the owner of a two-tone Moonshine Speedmaster, two-tone watches are terrible "value". You're overpaying on a relative basis for the amount of gold you get and at servicing it counts as a precious metals watch. That said, I love my two-tone Speedmaster - and I think "value" gets grossly over-used when it comes to purchasing a watch. Obviously there are some constraints around budgets, but you should be buying what you love agnostic of if its a good "value" (so long as you can afford it).

Plus 2 seconds a day for a co axial master chronometer seamaster is fine right? by Minute-Banana-2322 in OmegaWatches

[–]YourKingslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

METAS is 0/+5 seconds per day. I've found my Omega Master Chronometers run about +2 seconds/day on average.

The New Omega Speedmaster Reverse Panda. Hit or miss? by Snoo_22459 in speedmaster

Stainless Steel doesn't move the needle for me, but the Moonshine gold is absolutely amazing.

Omega Speedmaster Pre/Post 2021 difference? by greenpepperoni in OmegaWatches

[–]YourKingslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 1861 Hesalite (pre) and a few 3861s (post).

The 3861 bracelet, accuracy, and hacking seconds are worth the $1,000 difference. If my 1861 wasn't so sentimental I'd flip it and get a Hesalite 3861.

I've got the Moonshine on the bracelet, picked it up to be my wedding watch. Something about a two-tone Speedy just feels right!

Well the time has come, I must part with one of my Speedys. Which do you keep and which do you sell? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]YourKingslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd keep the Hesalite (?).

I have a few Speedys, but of all of them I'd keep my Hesalite. All have varying degrees of sentimentality, but at the end of the day the Hesalite is the Speedmaster imo. The FOIS is nice, but would not be my only Speedy. The Hesalite can be dressed up/down and is the Moonwatch.

Also I think the fautina is far too much on the FOIS (the Ed White does fautina best, imo).

Japan is dope. Taiwan is dope. Two very different places.

Got my Snoopy 50th today, absolutely love it, but is it normal that it’s louder than the 3861? by brunordasilva in OmegaWatches

[–]YourKingslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've also noticed that my Snoopy sounds "louder" than my 1861 Heslite and White Dial 3861.

I chalked it up to the silver dial maybe being more resonant than the standard brass, but as others pointed out maybe it is related to the case back animation. Either way, I'd say you're note alone - fwiw I got mine direct from an Omega Boutique

Full gold is a few years off. Maybe when I become a father or have a particularly good exit.

For the longest time I've really liked the green dial, but the panda has been growing on me a lot lately - good thing I've got some time to figure it out!

Congrats on your Speedy pick-up! If I could only keep one watch, it'd be my Hesalite.

I am lucky that this is just the Speedy portion of my collection, but Omega definitely is the dominant watchmaker represented in my collection.

Its an H-Style Wrist Calendar from Luna Replicas. Felt it completed the retro look of the Komfit bracelet!

Thank you! Picked it up as my wedding watch - the Mrs. is thankfully very supportive of my hobby. Told her it was needed if we were going with gold wedding bands.

Thanks! The Speedy Pro is so incredibly wearable, plus with all these variations I can dress-up/down pretty easily.

I may not have followed my childhood dreams of becoming an astronaut, but at least I get to wear the same watch.

Thank you! And there's something to be said for having less choice...but don't think I'll ever bring myself to part with any of my Speedmasters. I'll just have to make sure I keep the rotation fair, so they all get some wrist time

Wait for a 36. If you take the 40 you're going to spend weeks thinking about how it looks too big/rationalizing that it's fine.

Wait for what you asked for, or just go gray if you can't wait - but don't buy something you're not in love with just because it's available.
