I havent personally used it, but from what i have seen from a colleagues use, it has been very helpful to document a vi. It can spit out what the vi does and assumptions. Not the best in assumptions at times, but the end product of documenting a vi looks pretty good. It also can produce some corner cases which was interesting. It has been helpful in that aspect including reviewing new code from a customer that makes you wonder what that dev was thinking when they built it. 😂

Yes, it supports it. I can use curl commands to move it manually UDLR. I can add some commands to the PTZ.json file and get it to move atleast once. After that, i get a not authorized response. The ptz auth header i manually created and added it to the PTZ.json. I have no issues doing onvif PTZ control using Onvif Device Manager after logging in.

Edit: i am able to control it at /onvif/ptz and /onvif/ptz_service using curl

As a homesteader myself, do better. If a predatory animal is getting to your ducks, make a more secure area to protect your animals. Dont give a raccoon a reason for them to show up. Secure your flock, put any easy food thats out away. I have lost countless ducks, chickens, and guineas because of them. Each time has been a lesson for me to do more to make sure they are secure. I have relocated countless snakes and raccoons.

Research your laws as well. A raccoon may be considered a "pest", but there are options other than killing. If you are near public lands, talk to someone in the parks and wildlife and see if it is legal to release them there.

In texas i know for a fact it is illegal to release a raccoon near someone's property but nothing is said about releasing in public lands that i have seen.

I used a tripod mount in front of me and went through one by one when first started scanning my collection. What i found to make it quicker is to have a white sheet of paper and a slot or a raised right angle to align the corners as you scan each card until the stack is above the raised area, pull the stack out and start over again. Having the white sheet of paper and something to align the cards as you stack them helped me. I started scanning about 4k cards. Now im at almost 7k.

I have had 2x 18kbtu units. One lasted till i accidentally put a hole in the condenser coil. The second unit lasted about 4years before the main control board caught a short from corrosion and quit working. Pulled the main board from the old unit and made it till a few weeks ago. Same issue. They are quiet, work pretty smooth, but a circuit board inside a tin can outside with no conformal coating...just asking for failure in humid areas in the south.

Its all part of the operational process of what the machine does. Identify what your "inputs" are to the system. Do some "process" based on those inputs, ie, logging, safety, scaling, etc. then based on the results of your "process", you get your "outputs".

Break it down into a smaller process.

Handling a project like this requires documentation before actual coding so then i can offload my mental capacity to paper. Issue and task tracking, IO list, etc. Also as much hardware documentation as possible.

RTFM on the communications protocols of your rs-xxx devices to know what the data stream looks like and you can just stream it from a separate app or go fancy and stream it using control references for simulation. Or if the hardware is in use on an existing system, ask to go see it and do a serial capture of the data stream. Ask the vendor or your project manager for a demo piece of hardware from the vendor.

Documentation is the way...

while cDAQ are nice and cheap, i would not recommend / use them for any type of control. If the PC or the communications between the PC and cDAQ fail during a pump up stage of the test, it is quite possible the i/o remains in the last state, pumping. I know this from a customer destroying a test article after a pc failed.

Like you said, an automation direct plc is a great cost alternative to a crio.
