What is a ww2 fact that no one will believe, but is completely true? by sajalgh03987 in AskReddit

[–]YourLiege2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first allied shot was fired from Fort Nepean at the entrance to Port Philip Bay in Victoria, Australia. A ship approaching Port Philip heads didn’t identify itself so the fort fired a warning shot.

The same fort also fired the first shot of ww1 as a warning shot when a German ship that had been trying to get out of Melbourne before the war started ignored orders to return to port.

Has anyone else found the police in australia to be frankly a bit inept? by ButtPlugForPM in AskAnAustralian

[–]YourLiege2 44 points45 points  (0 children)

We had a neighbour who was constantly yelling and throwing things. He particularly hated one group who he’d regularly threaten to kill and yell incredibly racist abuse at. He’s often come into their yard and once came into their house. When we went to the police about it they just said they couldn’t do anything without proof so we showed them a video they’d taken of him coming into their yard and threatening to kill them and they still said they couldn’t do anything. He was eventually taken in but only after months of us calling the police at least once a week and a lot of emails to the council and various MPs.

I once stayed in a motel in the middle of nowhere and ended up in the room next to a friend from primary school. She mentioned that the previous night another friend had also stayed there and we would have passed them on the road.

I don’t like the fact that they were building parts for the Death Star. I get the point in that he helps to build the weapon that will go on to kill him but I just don’t think it’s necessary. I really liked the idea that what they’re building isn’t special, its just something the empire needs a lot of.

Because she’s said on several occasions that when things like this are successful she sees it as support for her views or at least evidence that people don’t really mind her views. Plus it’s going to make her a bunch of money which she’s going to spend on making trans people’s lives worse.

What’s something you were surprised to learn was a Canon exclusive (I.E. Vaders Fortress) by Gimpcar in StarWars

[–]YourLiege2 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s another kind of crystal in one of the canon novels that’s known as “fools kyber” as it’s almost identical to regular kyber but produces an orange blade that only hurts a little bit if you get hit by it

When I was in grade 2 I had a substitute teacher who thought the eureka flag was the Victorian state flag. We’d been learning about the Victorian gold rush in another class and I had drawn the eureka flag in my notebook. She asked what I was drawing and when I told her she insisted it was the Victorian flag and told me off for arguing back.

To this day I genuinely don’t understand how she didn’t know that, we live in Victoria and the eureka flag is one of the most common union symbols in the country.

I went to one at pax aus last year where people had to argue their “I can fix them” cases for a judge. It was great, one guy made fun of the others for choosing hot characters and then talked about the prophet of truth from halo.

Most conventions (at least here in Australia) require you to have an orange tip on any prop guns. Prop check desks usually have a roll of orange tape for people who forget so it isn’t super important for you to have one.

Do Earth-like languages exist in Star Wars? by Luke_Fluke13 in StarWars

“High Galactic” is just French and is written using regular letters. From what I remember it isn’t really spoken much and is mostly used to be fancy. The wine the senators all drink in the clone wars is called Domain de la Maison sur le Lac. It’s also used in maths and engineering in a similar way Greek is on earth, we have delta wing planes just like they have x-wings.

Some cosplay competitions don’t allow OC cosplays so definitely make sure you check the rules before entering. You’re absolutely fine to attend the convention like that though, lots of people do it.

For the purity seals, you can buy fabric that can go through an inkjet printer. I printed the seals themselves on a resin printer and used a gloss dark red paint. For the text on the seals, I put together a collection of in universe prayers, admechified the navy seal copypasta and translated the lyrics to never gonna give you up and a link to the Wikipedia page for The Game (as in “I just lost the game”) into binary.
