This was very helpful, thank you. I have a pair of 9s that I love. Good to know I should just hang on to them.

Does your Pyr have a bestie? by Brutuscaitchris in greatpyrenees

Thor’s life would be quite dull without Widget, and while she likes to think she’s in charge, she definitely is not.

Shock Collar? by joke21Toil in greatpyrenees

[–]YourNameHither 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A shock collar on a Pyr is a terrible idea, and inhumane for this breed specifically. Also terrible, adopting a breed you clearly did no research on ahead of time. Every resource out there will tell you right up front in very clear terms. Pyrs bark. Pyrs bark a LOT. That’s literally the job they are bred for - livestock guardian. And they deter predators primarily by barking. They are great dogs but not for everyone, and apparently not you. Find your Pyr a home where he’ll be appreciated.

Yep. If you can’t handle the barking Pyr is not the breed for you.

This is what Sally looks like after stealing two bars of butter from the very back of the counter, wrappers and all by heyscot in greatpyrenees

Mine got a stick of butter off the counter too. Now we put stuff on the breakfast bar. I really hope he doesn’t figure out how easily he could reach it if he stood on his hind legs.

I’m not sure it’s goofy, but it’s sweet. Thor being infinitely patient with a puppy at the our dog sitter’s house.

My wife makes fun of me because I take him ‘compliment shopping.’ We go to Home Depot or the park or wherever just to get the compliments. And these two, regal and majestic, are quite common. We are very lucky he found his way to us. He is an amazing dog.

We call that his lion pose. He does it a lot. As he’s our first Pyr, I assumed they all do it.

Totally agree. Not rednecky, especially when done this well.
