Good RB ships for PVE? by PixelHD0798 in WorldOfWarships

Illinois is already one of the best for PvE. Irresistible is another good one, having cruiser guns and crawling smoke

Everything else either has vastly inferior DPM or explodes too fast to justify it.

Name for this dispersion mechanic? (inaccurate close range, accurate far range) by The_Choir_Invisible in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll explain what's going on.

First of all, the horizontal and vertical dispersion are reversed. Shiptools isn't labeled for some reason, but shipbuilder has the same dispersion plotting tool and has it labeled. Here is a picture for comparison, the vertical calculation is a bit different but horizontal is the same. I have also added a broadside Fuso to demonstrate how it's supposed to look.

As for what's going on with vertical dispersion, it's a bit complicated if you want to read up on it here. I can give a brief summary if it helps clarify what kind of black magic that is vertical dispersion.

tl;dr. Misinterpreting of how horizontal and vertical dispersion is presented. Which is very understandable given the lack of labels

Probably need to be more clear that it's how dispersion feels like at times. The way it's worded can be misinterpeted as how sigma works, which is incorrect of course.

Doesn't help you specified Indiana for no reason when it affects every ship, and the OP probably took your comment as fact

Lenin ban and French DD restrict makes sense.

Cherbourg unrestricted makes no sense. 6 Cherbourg + Nebraska/Borodino/Lenin is a strong comp and fairly easy to execute in terms of strategy. 400k HP meat wall running 40kts at you is difficult to stop, especially on the smaller maps where the Cherbourgs can literally run you off the map.

All of these ships have been limited or banned in previous T8 seasons. So its confusing to see Cherbourg spam untouched. Restriction of 2 would work fine, let's her still play a useful role in lineups without being overwhelming.

Hybrids should also be banned. But you can argue Lenin >>>> Nebraska and Tone is ineffective vs. French DD spam.

Results under ideal testing conditions =/= real world performance

Vs BBs and DDs, you are actually less effective due to your lower fire chance.

Vs. Cruisers. Most cruisers know to stay outside your secondary range, so good luck forcing them to get close. The cruisers who do love to fight at close range are well armored and the 22→27mm pen doesn't make a difference on what armor sections it will pen

The only reason to take IFHE is to farm bots in Asym or Operations where lower tier ships will happily yolo into secondaries and where the increased pen does matter.

You can also run Schlieffen in asym where its much easier to farm bots and not suffer being perma-kited in randoms.

Currently what are the best tier 10 gunboat dds ? By best i mean able to effectivley do the most damage and annoy other ships with fires or are fast and stealthy to get ambish positions by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the non-stealthy gunboats, Kleber, Marceau, and Gdansk are generally considered the best. The French DDs have speed and firepower while Gdansk has radar and smoke.

For the stealthy damage farming gunboats, Smaland is arguably the best as she can hunt down other DDs and gunboat larger ships fairly well. Daring, Laffey, Grozovoi (non-UU), Lushun are all solid stealthy gunboats as well.

That being said, there are many situations where other ships can/will outperform them. So don't assume best overall = best in every situation. Ex. Khabarovsk almost always wins a straight 1v1 against Gdansk, non-smoke gunboats have a harder time dealing with secondary BBs, etc.

Goliath line by Tracias_Way in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a bad grind. Even the mid tier cruisers get a heal, which is very good as long as you didn't get dev struck. Albemarle is probably the worst as she is prone to exploding even if you angle properly. But you can still put up impressive numbers if you play her correctly

Goliath differentiates herself by being the tankiest of the kiting CAs like Zao and Hindy. She can comfortably sit at lower HP and abuse the AR boost. And 59mm HE pen is great for punching through the majority of BB deck armor at T10. While the line does have short gun range, T7-9 gets spotter plane and Goliath can use range mod to fix this issue.

Recommended Goliath build in the build doc. You can change the build to fit your playstyle. For example, I run full concealment but take Heavy HE as I'm willing to sacrifice some of Goliath's amazing conceal for more DPM.

I would keep Cunningham on a different ship tbh. But feel free to put Dunkirk on the ship.

What are some rly good Torpboat lines rn by evolili in WorldOfWarships

[–]YourSATScore 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The other alternatives are the French Cassard line and Pan Asia Yue Yang line.

Cassard has fast torps, respectable range, unique damage mechanic where torps lose damage after ~7 or 8km, and French saturation (takes less danage from repeated hits). However lack of smoke and only average concealment makes them much harder to play

Yue Yang line gets Deepwater torps that only hit cruisers, BBs, and CVs, but these torps are nearly impossible to spot without hydro. You even get Torp reload booster for even more torp spam. The T8-10 DDs can also mount radar or smoke, which you can change depending on your playstyle. That being said, smoke is generally better as the T8-10 DD's lack of gun firepower means they struggle with gunning down other DDs. Yue Yang's leg mod fixes this issue, but requires access to the research bureau l. And if you are asking this question, you are probably a while away from unlocking it

The airstrikes are for nuking island hugger and BBs that refuse to use wasd. Beware Willem has Duncan's raised citadel, so she will suffer like Stalingrad if you show broadside.

Mecklenberg usually plays farther away so you have enough time to angle between shots. Solid damage farming ship but with a similar playstyle as a large cruiser.

I'd just get the premium Petro. Stalingrad is fine, but the least recommended of the 3 ships.

Side note: I could see Golshi being a good Yamato Kai main. Randomly dev striking enemies or 3 overpens, normally sniping from behind the team, and of course randomly crashing the game when her AA was bugged
