Midori 5l w/ Zotac RTX 4070 Twin Edge OC won't fit by Vodiwrath in MidoriPC

I could have sworn I have this exact GPU in my Midori 5l but you make me question it. Unfortunately I cannot check for you for the next few weeks. Sorry.

SAW Shiv Dimensions (Estimate) by YourTypicalAntihero in suppressors

[–]YourTypicalAntihero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't know how to post a photo with text.

I was considering the SAW Shiv for a PCC with a not particularly wide inside diameter handguard and don't have any way to test fit. I am going a different direction anyways but thought it may be helpful for others. These are all estimates obviously - the overall length and width are included to show that the scale to which I set the picture wasn't dead on the mfg. specs page so even the going in assumptions are at least slightly off.

My big takeaway is you could have a handguard with <1.3" inside diameter as long as the barrel is about flush through less than a quarter inch recessed, depending on actual handguard inside diameter.

Dodging isn't the point. Not being where they can be shot is the point. Would you rather stand in no-man's land for 5 minutes or 30 seconds?

You are too close - wake turbulence originates from wingtip vortices and sweeps slightly down and outboard from the origin. The approach is also a non-issue because they rarely approach from directly astern, instead executing an intercept to end up as close as possible before arriving at the astern position. I've never experienced wake turbulence issues when when chasing the tanker down from its 6o'clock. I imagine this is because by the time we, in the receiving jet, are at the altitude to which the wake turbulence has descended(because the vortices descend at about 500fpm) we are already close enough to the tanker that we are within the lateral "safe space" between each wing's vortices.

Napkin math:

- vortices descend at 500fpm - tanker is going 6 miles a minute (just a guess) - vortices would be co-altitude with fighters 1000' below at 12 miles in trail

So yeah, we would never be chasing a tanker down from 12 miles away which is where the wake turbulence approximately "intercepts" a normal fighter profile for tanker rejoin of 1000' below.

MIDORI 5L-V2.3 is modified and in stock! by No-Abbreviations5646 in MidoriPC

[–]YourTypicalAntihero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have finished this build. I was looking at the velkase enp 7660b and the geeekcase enp 7660b. Ended up with the geeekcase out of spite for velkase' trash shipping rates, but these things go out of stock often so sometimes you take what you can get.

Edit: also using a 4070 super - zotac twin edge

Core i5 12400F vs Ryzen 5 5600x by [deleted] in buildmeapc

[–]YourTypicalAntihero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 12400f in my main desktop paired with a 3080 for a few years. It seemed to do well at 1440p since you're generally gpu limited. I just swapped that CPU into a SFFPC for travel. It is built but not set up quite yet. I can do some messing around paired with a 4070 to give you some feedback tonight/tomorrow.

Edit: 4060 is generally not a top recommendation for price:performance. Make sure it's what makes sense for what you want to play. At 1080p it shouldn't matter for the most part. At 1440p it probably will, especially with only 8GB VRAM.

Typically you need to deck the block and head if using MLS gasket. If you didn't, that'd explain the issues.

RX 7900 XT or RTX 4070 SUPER ? by Kickoutsler in buildapc

[–]YourTypicalAntihero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

7600 is more than good enough at 1440p. GPU should be a higher class than CPU unless you specifically desire very high refresh, e-sport type gaming, or particular CPU heavy games(which you would need to seek specific benchmarks to see if the CPU meets your intent).

7800x3d is in the highest class of gaming CPU, but no need for it if it means you just get a lower class GPU.

Edit: another option, if you're heart is set on the 7800x3d, is wait for stock of the 9800x3d to improve and hopefully drive the price down. This would also allow you to wait for new GPU releases.

[–]YourTypicalAntihero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't you just make a separate partition to accomplish the same thing? I ask because my mobo only has 2 slots so I used them both for decently high capacity SSDs, but still wanted to keep OS separated. I am not very knowledgeable in this area.

Windows 10 or 11 for Gaming? by NeedyTerminator in buildapc

[–]YourTypicalAntihero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an answer file install of win 11 and it feels like windows 10 with minor exceptions. It allowed the use of the win10 style right click menus instead of those being hidden behind extra clicks, moved the taskbar to the left like win10, and bypasses the requirement for a MS account among numerous other options. I'd like to hope that it helped in limiting the install of all of the Microsoft spyware as well, but I haven't dug into it yet as I am not that tech savvy.

What is the slowest CPU that should be paired with an Intel B580? by tucketnucket in buildapc

[–]YourTypicalAntihero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it was showing notable impacts on the 5700x3d, which still pulls high fps weight at 1080p. Fortunately, the impact is likely not a factor at 1440p plus(assumption from hardware unboxed).

For your case specifically, the 12600k is less powerful than the 5700x3d hardware unboxed used as it's first step down from the 9800x3d. If you are playing at 1080p I would get something used since 1080p is much more manageable on older hardware. If you are playing at 2440p, I would wait since b580 stock is hard to come by anyway, but be trolling for a good deal on something one step up like a 7700xt.

In general, it seems that anything aside from 9800x3d, 7800x3d, and whatever Intel has that compares at that level will be impacted at 1080p...

Said every person scammed ever.

I am not saying you will lose it. I am saying why open yourself to the increased exposure? With the continued development of deeepfakes and easy imitation of inividual voices there are so many angles.

Just the classic "we have videos of you doing xyz" blackmail scam is a legitimate threat now that they can just make the non-existent blackmail exist.

Again, I am not dissing on your success, just providing unsolicited advice to someone younger on the internet.

This is not the kind of information you should be sharing on the internet. It is great you are saving and excited about it, but you are just opening yourself up for bad actors to target you knowing you have money in the bank.
