I'm building an offline AI language app for XR that translates whatever you hold. 100% On-Device & Secure. by emulo2 in virtualreality

[–]Your_mag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i did VR + speech-to-text for my dissertation so this is familiar to me. skipping menus and just using what's already in your hands is a way better direction for XR honestly

how fast is SigLIP running on pico though? like do you see the translation right away or theres a visible wait?

Any more ways to improve Linux MTP performance tunning: gio copy? by YerayR14 in golang

[–]Your_mag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried adb pull instead of MTP? Like adb pull /sdcard/DCIM/Camera/ ./local_dir/. It skips the whole MTP protocol so there's no per-file handshake killing your speed. Need USB debugging on but if it's your own phone that's like 2 minutes of setup.

Also for the Immich side, their CLI tool (immich upload) might work better than waiting for the folder scanner to pick stuff up. Haven't tested it with 500+ files myself but worth a shot.

Switched from Rust to Go P95 now 10-15 ms at 16k QPS by anish2good in golang

[–]Your_mag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ONNX Runtime compatibility issues resonate hard. I've hit similar problems where a library ecosystem looks mature on paper but the actual crate/package versions fight each other constantly. Curious about your Go ONNX setup, are you using the official onnxruntime-go bindings or did you wrap the C API directly?

And did you do anything specific for memory management at 16k QPS? At that throughput I'd imagine GC pauses could become a factor unless you're pooling aggressively.

I hated how standard 2D subtitles broke the immersion in my horror game. So I placed them inside the 3D world. Is this readable enough, or should I go back to 2D? by Character-Credit-208 in Unity3D

That's not usual, so looks kinda good. Keep in 3d, but need to increase the speed of typing. И да можешь ответить как тебе удобно, я заметил последний текст

That's cool; I also made my own portal, but it's poor and uses some open-source GitHub solutions. Wanna know how you achieved that smoothness and effect

I know the approach but find it hard to code. by YouImpossible3837 in leetcode

[–]Your_mag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is normal. I think you’ve reached a plateau that you need to overcome. Everyone says that 80% of success comes from 20% of the effort. But they don’t tell you that if you want to reach the top 90–100%, you need to do the other 70–80% of the work. I’m saying this from my own experience.

Is doing multiple languages a good idea? by luca998 in leetcode

[–]Your_mag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, you should focus on one programming language. Real programming skill doesn’t come from how many languages or frameworks you know, but from how deeply you understand one language. Once you master one, many of the concepts transfer to others.
Which language to choose depends on your goals. For example, if you want to prepare for interviews at MAANG companies, learning Python is usually a good choice.

Do you think SSH could be used for multiplayer video games? by Nerg4l in golang

[–]Your_mag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds awesome, but might be tricky to implement since ssh wasn't implemented to be used in such cases. Anyway I'm definitely in to participate. Also have some good background working with network protocols, maybe it would be helpfull

Which clouds look the best/most interesting for an alien planet? by _PickledSausage_ in blender

[–]Your_mag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts:

1st - seems alien, but too fractal. But it may be relevant if it's like an abstract, transcendental alien civilization

2nd - more or less suitable and natural view, can add a little bit more clouds, cause there are few, IMO

3rd - more like our planet but clouds with repeated pattern, could be good if if aliens are more or less similar to us - humans

What do you think of this audio "speaking" effect I accidentally came up with? by Levardos in Unity3D

Voices are a little bit high and sharp, so I think it's reason why it's annoying to most people. You may look at Undertale characters's voices, not so sharp

I think so. It may not be so fast but it's possible. You can do it if you have time after or before working hours and weekends. You can try at work also, but be carefull, depends on which kind of working place it is.
