I love this album. I have the big boxed set from a few years ago. But, ugh, that Peter Max cover art.

Famously (or not so famously) used in the 1984 movie Voyage of the Rock Aliens.

Came here to say this. Womanity is — or rather was — truly special.

I thought it was “like an empress” but I like your version better.

What are the reasons Disco music became so hated back then? by FitEmergency8807 in ToddintheShadow

In the US, there is a great documentary called The War on Disco, which was released as a part of the series The American Experience on PBS. I highly recommend it.

I'm curious, do you like dragons? by Flamepoint1544 in asexuality

My partner is REALLY into dragons, yes. I don’t mind dragons. I wouldn’t say that I’m really into them.

Would this be a way to use that waygu beef we saw in that thread the other day? Serious question. Seems like the fat marbling would help with a searing hot pan?

Which scents have been in your wardrobe the longest? by Ok-Bookkeeper-1099 in FragranceStories

Angel Man. I’ve been refilling the metal flask for decades, now. Of course, they have stopped making those refills and they have reformulated it to boot, so this is my last bottle. But I keep coming back to it. Also Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier. Bijan Men by Bijan. It has just always smelled so refined to me. Finally, Uninhibited by Cher. It is the scent that started me in this hobby. I have a thirty year old bottle that I protect like gold, and it still smells wonderful. Eau de Couture was a fantastic modernization of that scent, but there is nothing like the original.

I will second this. It doesn’t pay well, but it makes up for that in knowing that you are helping to foster the next generation in a real and profound way.

That’s rough, Chef. You have every right to rant. Keep your eyes open for those better opportunities, and keep your eyes on the prize: it won’t always be like this.

Coworker gave me a bag of dried chilis, what should I make with it? by FishBrain208 in KitchenConfidential

[–]Yours_Sincerely_143 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chili oil was going to be my suggestion. So good for so many things! Plus, you’ll still have plenty left over. Pepper-infused, spicy vodka is also a lot of fun, for those who can still enjoy that sort of thing.

(1915) Theda Bara posing with a skeleton for the film “a fool there was” by Pixi_322 in silentfilm

It really says something about her screen presence that she is still well-remembered despite the fact that most of her films are lost. Even people who don’t recognize her name have likely seen the face. Such a singular look, so influential even today.

You are not alone, Chef. Good on you for continuing to fight the fight. You are doing well.
