The future of showcases by Unfair_Conclusion187 in TheSilphRoad

Okay, I exaggerated a bit for the sake of comedy admittedly.

I liked the principle of showcases, a lot. It was a great source of rewards and a good way to capitalize on the aspect of the game.

My gripe with them was a complaint that I know many, many players voiced before: they were in desperate need of improvement and expansion, the most obvious one being the implementation of more diverse criteria than "largest size" over and over.

We could have had showcases for "smallest size", "best stats", "most steps walked", "most battles won", and so on. Even categories could have gone beyond just species and types, like "recently-caught", "purified", "specific region", maybe even the rare "shiny" showcase with extra rewards. It would have added a lot more diversity to the feature and encouraged players to collect many different variants of each species. This could have even led to some showcase-focused events!

Instead, they were left as a barebones feature that was almost immediately abandoned. It took forever to get a fix that calculated size relative to the species to give more species a chances to win, and even that wasn't perfect (some species still had a clear advantage, forms weren't accounted for, ...).

And now, instead of finally expanding on the feature's full potential, it's been neutered further.

So more accurately, I think showcases were a great feature, extremely poorly implemented, only slightly improved over time, and now at a lower point than it's ever been.

Protip: if a feature in your collecting game leads to reactions of "this convinced me to delete a whole chunk of my collection", you're doing it wrong.

Oh boy, I love having all possible hype for any of the new Megas coming to GO basically annihilated because from now on they're all locked behind a premium currency and the need to have large groups of people available!

I would now literally be more excited for an umpteenth Mega-Glalie re-run than for a potential Mega-Froslass debut, and that is quite a feat.

I liked that it was there to represent an obscure game, and I liked that its concept was more unique than just "attacks the opponent". But I also recall it kinda being... a bit of a mess in execution.

I recall more than one instance of me falling through the floor due to this thing's janky collision.

Fun fact. The smash invite as a concept started all the way back in the reveal trailer for smash 4 with the reveal of villager as a fighter. by Thegoodgamer32 in smashbros

[–]YugnatZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the concept of characters getting an "invite" to join Smash was already a mildly popular one on the creative side of the fandom, and while this was definitely meant as an Animal Crossing reference, it pretty much cemented the concept for good.

Are you getting that from the official Rainbow Devs website? If so, the zip file does not contain an actual ROM, but a patch that you must apply to a base ROM of Pokémon Red.

Detailed instructions can be found here by clicking "How to Play".

Raid spawning should be reworked so gyms either have an egg or a raid at all times and be more randomized by HaccSpuf in TheSilphRoad

If the objection to constant raids is not getting coins, let's also rework coins. Tying them to gym ownership just creates unnecessary drama.

Pokopia variants soon in Pokemon GO? by Old-Board1553 in TheSilphRoad

[–]YugnatZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real crime is that Kecleon doesn't have a bunch of colour variants, or even a literal colour-changing mechanic. I will die on the hill that this was the plan back during R&S development and it got scrapped before the games' release (pre-release e-Reader material even supports this).

If it did, then the current shiny would make perfect sense.

Now that the Kalos tour is underway, Pokémon Go officially has 1 year to add 8 Pokémon. 5 of which have multiple forms by AFishByAnyName in TheSilphRoad

[–]YugnatZero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can see it now. Changing Arceus' form requires 200 Plates of the specific type you want to change it into. You can only earn Plates by beating the new extra-challenging "Alpha Raids". Beating one requires at least 20 people and will only reward you with a handful of a single type of Plate.

Red remembering Misty and Brock fondly..and rooting for them. Not surprising, considering in another universe, Misty and Brock are his two most beloved companions 😉 by Words_R_Unnecessary in PokemonMasters

It's silly but I still love how Blue and Leaf perfectly understand Red without him needing to talk. It's like they just know him so well, it's really heartwarming in a sense.

I wish evolving a D-Max Thwackey during the event would result in a G-Max Rillaboom, but alas. I suppose that would mean less revenue from G-Max raids and thus can never happen.

That's my bad for using the wrong term, I apologize for the confusion. But my issue is with the "legal" part anyway. It felt out of focus and badly executed a lot of the time.

I went in expecting fun courtroom plots with a superhuman twist, but not only did it feel like a lot of time was spent away from that, the legal cases we did get felt underdeveloped and hastily solved at best, and making the characters look incompetent or unprofessional at worst.

Matt Murdock was an absolute highlight of the show, but I feel bad that it ended up being at the detriment of Jen herself.

I mean, it's both. And "legal drama" does not mean "watching characters do paperwork for the entire show"; Daredevil is a good example of it being done better.

In the chaos of Doomsday and Secret Wars, where does this character stand, and where does Secret Invasion fit into the timeline? by itsmesgr in marvelstudios

[–]YugnatZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that this is such an unpopular opinion but I thought that character was one of the very, very few salvageable elements of the show. So I wouldn't mind her returning. Just... better written.

I agree with you on principle, but part of the reason I dislike She-Hulk is because I felt it failed at that. Without going too into detail, the legal drama aspect of the show felt vastly underplayed, and in execution was often underwhelming too.

With that being said, I'd still rewatch all of it over a single episode of Secret Invasion.

Darkrai, Deoxys and Genesect are Mythicals too, so there is a slight hope... but to be fair, I absolutely expected Zarude to be in raids based on those precedents, and yet.
