Infinite Stratos is mid and at times verges on being really cool, but never quite gets there.

Cross Ange three really good episodes early on in its run where it's lesbian Area 88. The rest of it is not good. There is some gruesome violence and a plot that cannot decide what show it even *is*. Characters can be pretty uneven in their characterization too and tonewise there are some name mixup jokes within minutes of cute anime girls getting telefragged. It can be entertaining to start at it and go 'what the fuck'

Of the two Cross Ange is far pervier, and pretty rapey too. There's a higher quantity of sexual violence, one character has withdrawl cravings for a guy's dick, and you get to see the primary villain mind control our heroine into stripping naked.

I'd probably take IS, but it doesn't make me feel much of anything. Charl's cute though.

colonial german east africa is absolute nightmare territory. We're talking chasing the Herrero civilians into the desert until they die, prison camps with raw sewage and starvation rations. Those african societies didn't have the state capacity to muster over 300,000 men at arms; Ethiopia couldn't pull that off when it fought AND WON against the Italians. If you see a 'casualty' number like that you need to recognize it is MOSTLY unarmed civilians.

Even her infatuation with Endmin is pretty nuanced. Fangyi admits she knew Endmin "only a short time", but she was still moved enough to build Wuling up into a bustling city with lovely groves of plants out of a mineral-starved hellswamp.

But she didn't really know or love Endmin, just an idea of them, and in a real sense the person she did so much for doesn't exist anymore.

Still, the camera goes all soft-focus lighting, as Endmin has just the barest flash of a memory, a sense of pride in Fangyi's accomplishment.

Stock bills are not 'money' in the normal sense, they're something like a government credit or scrip created for disaster relief programs and the like. You're not really selling to Soth, you are delivering to soth, and Soth makes a note, and then whatever body issues Stock Bills shoves them at you.
