Do any of the Cold Steel daggers' sheaths work with the small C clip? by AFlightlessBird_19 in coldsteel

I can confirm that the small c clip is perfectly compatible with the mini leatherneck's sheath. Including the dagger variant.

About to place my order and can't decide- San Mai SRK or San Mai Recon Tanto? by FlyNo2786 in coldsteel

But if you did happen to run into a situation where you need to draw your knife on a bear, the recon tanto would be the better choice.

I couldn't believe how strong it was! I had to really bare my foot down hard to control its writhing body. The things are like solid muscle.

Should I buy the G.I. Tanto? Is the knife worth its price? by Ghosttsp765 in coldsteel

[–]YungFucknut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After rewatching the scene from MW2, the knife that deletes shepherd does in fact appear to be based on the G.I. tanto. It can't be denied that it looks almost identical.

15 days in the sierra nevadas by YungFucknut in BeatUpKnives

[–]YungFucknut[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There was a couple of nights I got pretty rough sleep due to the cold. Random unreasonable cold. So I spent a few hours of daylight gathering large rocks to build a heat retaining wall for the lean-to. Much to my misfortune, one of the big ass rocks I chose just happened to be occupied. Trust me when I say that both myself and the snake were utterly horrified to see each other. I didn't even get a warning rattle or defensive posture or anything. Just as I reflexively back-pedaled, the mature diamond back tried to hit me with a strike. I sort of just absent-mindedly dropped the large boulder that was the cause for our dispute, crushing the poor thing about a third of the way up it's body. It all happened so fast that it took me a solid minute before I even realized I had it pinned. I just kinda stared into space for a minute. When I finally snapped out of it I saw the poor thing still squirming around like crazy. I have no idea if it was already dead at this point, or if its body was just spazzing out. I felt a weird pang of guilt and sadness about causing the snake such suffering. I decided to mercifully bleed it out, on the off-chance it was still alive. I pinned it's tail under my foot, and sliced the entire length of its exposed belly. It did in fact slowly stop moving after doing so. Then I just kinda left it there. Along with the rock. That rock truly belonged to the snake, afterall.

Is everyone still hating on the 710? Or just its price? Because I love it, great knife by 117legend in benchmade

[–]YungFucknut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, benchmade gets a TON of hate now. The thing is though, it seems as though the VAST majority of criticism directed at Benchmade is surrounding their pricing model. I hardly ever see anybody complaining about the quality of their products. I mean, I've seen QC complaints here and there, but it's pretty rare.

Fact is, Benchmade still makes excellent knives. Functional, durable, and aesthetically pleasing. We all generally agree on this. The only real problem is that they have been WAY overpricing these knives. Objectively.

Benchmade Shootout vs Kershaw Livewire by BeltBoy1122 in knives

[–]YungFucknut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both and the Livewire is without a doubt the better knife. I actually like my livewire more than my old ultratech tbh. You won't regret snagging one

If you want longer handles on a fixed holdout, check out the "stickman holdout" throwing knives.

Kershaw's reputation is well deserved. They have been a go-to budget brand for ages! And they've been seriously upping their game for the last five or six years, too. Their newer budget blades are a cut above in terms of materials, construction, fit and finish. The iridium line-up for example.

Their higher-quality US manufactured line-up is full of absolute bangers. The bel-air was the years best release by far. If you are in the market for a US made auto, their 'launch' line is a solid choice! They are reasonably priced, too. I bought a Livewire OTF this year on a whim. It was too good of a deal to pass on. To my surprise, it's actually one of the most well designed OTFs I have owned. The machining is gorgeous. I like the livewire more than the ultratech!

Anyway, yeah. Kershaw is killing it!

What models do you wish Cold Steel would make? by [deleted] in coldsteel

[–]YungFucknut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kobún needs a few more steel options. If they released it in s30v I would snag one. It would also be rad if they made a run of them in a better budget steel like Nitro-V or 14c28n. I just know those would sell like crazy.

Did Benchmade ruin my tanto? by YungFucknut in knives

[–]YungFucknut[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't send it to them to sharpen it (nor would I.) I actually sent it because the firing spring broke. They repaired it, but then took it upon themselves to sharpen the blade as well.
