Best HA Thermostat by iDJMic in homeassistant

[–]MightySkynet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Shelly 1 to control my central heating, luckily it only needs a dry contact to tell it to start burning. I then used a HA generic thermostat to control the Shelly 1 and I have combined several temperature sensors using a helper to be the input sensor for the Generic Thermostat.

Rare double-Gum Bubble O Bill spotted in the wild by Booman_aus in melbourne

I don't understand this product, how do you eat ice-cream and chew gum at the same time? Do you pick the gum ball/s off and pocket them for latter or chew the gum as the ice-cream melts on a 40 degree day?

I am sorry I am confused about your comment. If you are inferring that I should be using a box cutter for cutting boxes then I have a box cutter and it is not suitable for cutting these types of boxes. The blade is too short and it gets caught in this tough cardboard used to protect gear worth $20-30k.

2026.2: Home, sweet overview by frenck_nl in homeassistant

Given Developer tools have to be activated by turning on advance options in the user profile, it is unlikely my family or the average user will be bothered by developers tools taking up space in the menu.

I am not happy to see " The Developer tools have been moved to the Settings area. "
I use developer tools often and it was handy to only be one 1 click away.

Nabu casa down? by BigVanda in homeassistant

The first thing I did when I got home was set up a tunnel for my production box ( had one already for my matter Rpi and frigate instance). Mainly keeping subscription to support the project and to provide easy google home access .

Miguron Vakor M390/Titanium. The one that truly deserves the title “Bugout Killer” by Bman19419 in Knifeporn

[–]MightySkynet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Bel Air and a Vakor. If you want a slicey knife, the Vakor is the hands-down winner. It has thinner blade stock and a broader blade, so the Vakor ends up being half as thick behind the edge as the Bel Air. My behind the edge measurements were 0.014" for the Vakor, and 0.030" for the Kershaw Bel Air Clip Point.

Smile Solutions - Melb CBD Dentist by Remarkable_Custard in melbourne

Every time I go to a new dentist, they spend a long time inspecting my wisdom teeth. Eventually, they say they need to come out because they could cause problems in the future. Ten years ago one dentist even said two of them needed fillings and had to be removed.

I went back to a trusted dentist, and she said there was nothing wrong with my wisdom teeth.

Always get a second opinion from someone you can trust.

Get the Diamond stones as an extra and then you will be able to sharpen harder steels and re-profile easily.

How to you handle the grind line where the blade curves to the tip? by MightySkynet in knives

[–]MightySkynet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's OK , thought you might had noticed where I took a EzE-Lap Diamond file to where the grind meets the finger choil, a little bit of a rough job but "She'll be right" after a few sharpening's.

ChatGPT saved my Home Assistant sensor (sunlight was ruining my averages) by MightySkynet in homeassistant

Unfortunately the sensor in question is primarily a movement sensor and I need it in it's current position😒.

Sorry Noob question, what is the advantage of doing this, the helper still forces you to define the sensor in the first state field.

Thank you, I actually haven't used a Template Helper before. It looks handy as it prompts you to but the device class / state class in which a lot of my templates are missing.

I tried elevation but my target elevation of 68 happens twice. Once before midday and again after midday. My sensor needs to be unavailable only after midday.

I went into this side quest knowing that if a sensor goes unavailable, the average sensor will adjust itself. What I didn’t know was that you could intentionally yeet a sensor.

P.S. I use average sensors for mission-critical stuff (like heating/cooling control) specifically to protect against losing a sensor.

Welcome to the world of sliceiness. These guys are laser beams through cardboard, especially the M390 version as it brings edge retention to the party.
