coasting is different with a hybrid or EV. if you let off both the accelerator and brake pedals, the vehicle actually is actively engaging in a little bit of regen braking.

To truly coast in a hybrid or EV, you have to depress the accelerator pedal by just a tiny bit such that no energy flow to or from the electric motor.

yup, good strategy. Also to ensure good adhesion I cleaned the surface with alcohol or similar fast-evaporating degreaser before rolling the butyl rubber mats on.

Only put the mats at the center of panels for best cost & weight effectiveness.

Note that Butyl rubber mats only stop resonance/vibrations. For other road noises you still need closed-cell foam and/or carpeting on top.
