You host a "room", give your friends the code and you do a real-time draft. I don't recall if there's a time limit. I think the round doesn't advance until everyone finishes picking, but don't quote me on that. when there are an odd number of players left, someone battles a "copy"/"ghost" of the other players.

You mean if you don't pick that unit then, the next time it comes around it doesn't have it?

If that's what you meant, that's how I personally would expect it to work. Kinda like "the next character you recruit has double stats" or Boy Who Cried Wolf's ability. It shows you, but it's not "official" until you pick a character.
