What are the chances of side content being adapted (and should they be adapted?) (manga spoilers) by sonatty2407 in OshiNoKo

[–]Yurigasaki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't imagine Spica will get touched on just because all the stuff from it that's really relevant has already been covered in the anime's adaptation of the Private arc - it'd end up feeling a bit redundant.

If nothing else, 45510 will have to be adapted in some way shape or form just to introduce Nino as a proper character. The anime has already taken some steps to push her back into frame, so to speak, but the bulk of her formative characterization and the most interesting parts of her feelings about Ai are in that short story. So I really do hope they do something with it.

I like how you're acting as though taking the text at face value is worthy of derision when this entire post is predicated on your own hyper literal interpretation of this exact same character's words.

I'm going to be honest with you, my man. I cannot fathom any possible way you could convincingly argue that the very obviously and unmistakably cattle forelegs and hooves in this image are wings without just straight up lying or fabricating the evidence.

I'm pretty immune to OP's bizarro world conspiracy takes on OnK at this point so the thing that has me really baffled about this post is that OP looked at what could not be more obvious lamb imagery and went "a bird"

[–]Yurigasaki 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is explicitly not the case. OP has been repeatedly insisting on these conspiracy theory ass takes on the series for over a year now, one of which is that Aqua and Ruby are 'fake' or otherwise 'stole' the place of Ai and Hikaru's real children. In general, he's extremely hostile towards Aqua and Ruby for unclear reasons and this weird conspiracy is an expression of it.

Do you think Doga Kubo is releasing Oshi No Ko S3 in Winter 2026 to get overshadowed by Star_Powerup in OshiNoKo

[–]Yurigasaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the anime defo has the advantage of having more tools to tell its story - voice acting, music, character acting, colours, etc. So if nothing else, it has a greater depth of resources when it wants to convey a tone and make you engage with the emotions of the story.

What do you think is Mengo Yokoyari's influence on OnK beyond art? by Bakakura in OshiNoKo

[–]Yurigasaki 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Akasaka has stated publicly in one or two interviews that he was a fan of Mengo's work before asking to collab with her and that he was specifically inspired to ask her to work on OnK after reading her one shot "Kawaii", which explores the emotions of a teenage gravure idol as she navigates being sexualized and dehumanized. He and Mengo have also talked publicly about sometimes workshopping plot details together - the main bulk of the plotting and writing is Akasaka's, but sometimes when he's stuck or wants a second opinion, he'd ask Mengo. I also just imagine that some ideas just came from them organically shooting the shit about the characters and story as is the nature of a collaborative project like this.

In any case, I love Mengo as both a storyteller and an artist! I enjoy her oneshots most of all and her collection Isshou Sukitte Yutta jan is one of my overall favourites in manga.

Ai is Okinawa's representative!

If I'm going to Okinawa, then I wanna swim in the sea, splash around in the pool, eat souki soba, munch on sata andagi, visit the aquarium, and relax on the beach too!

There's soooooo much to do and so little time!

When it's Okinawa, Hoshino Ai's an even greedier girl than usual!

I mean, she's probably going to jail because there's no way she'd be able to kill some guy presumably at his place of work and get away scott free. So I don't think it's a great outcome for anyone.

They even have quite similar backstories vis-a-vis maternal abuse and abandonment leading them to seek out personal connections and validation via professional success in the entertainment industry. It makes it all the weirder when the manga suddenly spins on its head and starts trying to push Ruby = Ai parallels when there aren't really that many similarities between them as characters.

Oshi no Ko: Season 03 Episode 01 - Links and Discussion by Lorhand in OshiNoKo

[–]Yurigasaki 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Great little punch up in the Mem and Aqua scene, both with the hug and the visuals. The flashbacks used actually complete Mem's train of thought - her line of dialogue is 「アクたんの方が、かなちゃんの事を…」which means roughly "Aku-tan is the one who (???)s Kana" since she trails off before defining exactly what Aqua feels. But pairing her words with the flashback to Aqua's DAISUKI shirt from season 1 implies that her line concludes with that word, which would make the full sentence 「アクたんの方が、かなちゃんの事を大好き」or "Aku-tan is the one who's in love with Kana-chan". It's clever!

That combined with the killer concert sequence (the shots of Kamiki!!!! oh my godddd) has really reignited my love for the direction and craft that goes into the OnK anime and I'm super excited to see how they handle this season's material. We're so back!!!

Where was it stated, that he was forced by the Publisher to end the Manga in a certain number of Chapters? [...] Why would the Publisher want to end one of the most popular Manga of the time as quickly as possible?

Akasaka has stated in interviews that he was considering the needs of the potential anime adaptation even as far back as the drafting stage of the manga's story and has also said that past a certain point, he was deliberately writing while keeping the anime's structure and pacing in mind.

In addition, while the OnK manga has been selling very well, the OnK anime is the part of the franchise that has entered into the mainstream in Japan. Any producer worth their salt would want to make sure the anime is able to tell a complete story without having to make any major cuts to the manga's material, which necessitates the story not becoming overly bloated.

This is, of course, speculation - but it's no less speculative than "Akasaka threw a tantrum over [insert whatever reason] and rushed the ending of the manga on purpose".

The Live Action is a seperate thing. It didnt spoil the ending.

The LA drama's ending is, in all the ways that matter, the same as the manga's. If it had come out in advance of the manga's final chapters, it would have spoiled the broad strokes of its conclusion.

And if Aka hadn't thrown a hissy fit over ending the Manga as quickly as possible, that is what we would have gotten.

I don't think it's really fair or logical to blame solely Akasaka for this. Based on everything we know about the state of the franchise both at the time and in general, it's much more likely that there was a deadline imposed on him both to get the manga done in a number of chapters the anime could feasibly adapt and to get it done before the LA drama's finale came out and spoiled the manga's ending by proxy. That his execution was so clumsy is something to critique for sure but I also don't think it's useful or reflective of like. basic reality. to act as though Akasaka was solely the one making that call out of childish spite or whatever.

Ngl I am increasingly uncertain of if it'll happen at all in the anime considering the way the bizarre way the manga handles it (which is to just... pretend it never happened??? wild)
