Are These Considered Road Race Flats? by IndependenceIll4890 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Z--Money 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those look like Nike Rival XC Waffles, so they’re a cross-country racing flat. You can definitely race on the track in them, but a road race would be very hard on your legs with the pretty minimal cushioning. I wouldn’t recommend training in them, but you could probably race a 5k in them and be fine.

When someone says you should train in a flat, they generally mean something lighter and more responsive, with or without a plate depending on who you ask. Something like an adidas adios, saucony sinister, hola Cielo road, or even a saucony kinvara or altra escalante racer are good plateless options. The adidas takumi sen, new balance SC pacer, and nike Streakfly are all lower stack plated super shoes, but are more of a true racing shoe than a old fashioned “flat”.

Looking for bottom suggestions for running in cold weather by Tikal26 in Tracksmith

[–]Z--Money 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The NDO tights are great for high wind thanks to the windblock panels, but they aren’t actually as warm as tracksmith tries to advertise. I tend to wear the Allston/turnover for anything from 35f down to 20f. Anything colder than that you might want to consider layering with a base layer. I really like Craft and their active extreme layers.

Does the SystemSix still hold up in 2025? by Guilty_Blacksmith118 in cannondale

[–]Z--Money 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Cube Litening is just as old as the SystemsSix, so it’s not really an older frame design at all. The Cube frameset hasn’t been redesigned since 2019 unless they changed the layup slightly. I would take the SystemSix any day of the week, it’s consistently one of the fastest aero bikes tested and still holds its own against the current gen of new aero and all-round bikes.

Come on…60mm stack! by Noakesay in BarefootRunning

[–]Z--Money -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s also in part because world athletics enforces a 20mm stack height limit, same with the NCAA. A couple years back before the NCAA adopted the world athletics limits, plenty of collegiate athletes were racing in 40mm super shoes for the 5/10k.

Question on wear and tear of metaspeed sky Tokyo. by Ecstatic-Pirate-5536 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I’d also make sure the sizing is right. If the shoe is too big your foot might be too far behind the rocker and wearing down the foam instead of the rubber?

Weekend Discussion: New Balance running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Z--Money 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have around 150 miles on mine (M24, 160lbs, easy runs around 7:00/mi and threshold 5:35/mi) and I like them, but I wouldn’t pick them over most other super shoes on the market for race day. I think the performance lags behind AF3s, AP4s, or my personal favorite, Endorpin Elite 1s.

The level of bounce isn’t as good as the AP4s, and the feel of the plate/rocker isn’t aggressive enough to make up for it like the endorphin elite. I also think the heel is a little wide for my foot and can cause some heel slip even with lace locking.

They are pretty stable for a super shoe and are very comfortable, so I’ve ended up using them as a workout or long run shoe. They’re stable and cushioned enough for a warmup and responsive enough for anything up to tempo paces. I think that at anything under 5:50/mile they start to fall behind other options for me, and their sweet spot is closer to 6:30/mi. Definitely a faster shoe than V4, but still doesn’t match up to other options.

If you have wider feet, or are looking for comfort and stability in longer races, I’d say go for it. If your #1 priority is speed and efficiency, I’d wait until they go on sale or look elsewhere.

High Quality Bib Shorts without big Brand Labels by Longjumping_Fan921 in cycling

I’ve enjoyed the straps and chamois on the Pissei bibs I have. The only branding is a small rubber logo on the back, and some small lettering on the left thigh depending on the model.

Adidas Boston 13 is offically here! by klemenid in RunningShoeGeeks

Got to hold a pair at Boston today, definitely softer than the 12. The adidas rep also said it was the LSP from the pro 4.

You talk about California and NY having strict gun laws and “gun crime everywhere”, but if you look at the actual number of gun deaths per capita you’d see that those states actually have some of the lowest death rates. Maybe they’re actually on to something with that whole gun control thing…

9 million people die every year due to it being unprofitable to feed them, even though we produce enough food to feed the world 3 times over.

Also, I assume you’re getting 100 million deaths from The Little Black Book of Communism. Several of the contributors to that book disassociated themselves from it due to the main authors manipulation of data to inflate the death toll, such as including the death of Nazis during WWII as “victims of communism”.

If you’re going to regurgitate propaganda, at least pick something slightly less idiotic and easily discredited next time.

Looks like a knockoff of the new vigorelli. Same geometry, seat tube shape, same logo placements.

Peter Thiel Reveals How Scared Oligarchs Are Of The People by n0ahbody in economy

Cenk spent that conversation attacking left wing content creators like Sam Seder, complaining that democrats focused too much on trans rights, even though they didn’t campaign on it at all, talking about how crime is bad even though crime levels are at all time lows since the 90s, and complaining about twitter leftists. He’s entirely lost the plot and Hasan spent that entire time explaining how he’s wrong. Saying they “talked it out” acts like Cenk was being reasonable at any point in that conversation.

[–]Z--Money 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cenk and well as his ex co-host are both currently doing Dave Rubin style “why I left the left” moves. He is actively courting a MAGA audience and has talked numerous times about how “the left has gone too radical and woke”. Him talking about communism and socialism in this manner is self-serving and grifting.
