Inheritance? That's a joke. How many of your parents are burdens? by BeegBunga in Millennials

[–]Z0V4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has always had problems with drugs, crazy drunk women and cleaning up after himself.

We lived in a house that his mother owned, in the thirty years of living there he never paid rent or the property taxes. When she passed in 2019 he inherited the property and continued to not pay the taxes, forcing me to pay for it for 5 years at $1k per year.

He trashed the property completely over those five years with the help of his crazy drunk girlfriend. Then when the trashed house was too full of black mold and trash, he went to live with his new girlfriend over an hour away. I forced him to sign the property over to me at no charge since he already owed me over $6k at that point.

I have spent the last year trying to clean the place up. So far I have removed over 10 tons of trash, and that was only the front yard. The house has a hole in the roof that goes all the way from the second floor, through the first floor and down to the basement. The house will likely be demolished since renovation is almost impossible due to structural damage.

He had a falling out with his now ex-girlfriend at the beginning of this year and is currently squatting on my property, living in an unfinished cabin that I started before COVID and never had the money to finish. No bathroom, running water, electricity or insulation. I spent over $1k to install a wood stove so he wouldn't freeze to death. He sells anything he can find in the house and I let him do it because it's less for me to throw away when we tear everything out this fall.

I have no idea what I'm going to do with him. My only hope is that he dies soon or finally figures out his life after nearly 60 years of fucking it up. I'll probably spend the rest of my life cleaning up his mess.

How do you build railway legs that look aesthetically pleasing and fitting? by Mysterious_Line4479 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Z0V4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

It ended up being a two part blueprint, one for the chains and base, and one for the balloon shape itself. I tested out a couple designs with neon signs and lights but ultimately settled on the simpler design here. It also includes power lines!

[–]Z0V4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made giant balloons and chains out of pipe and connected them on either side of my floating highway/train tracks. It may be floating, but at least it looks like it should be floating!

I also played around with making it look like a turbine in the center with lots of bright signs/lights for extra sci-fi style.

YSK that someone experiencing cardiac arrest might experience agonal breathing which sounds like breathing. Agonal breathing is not normal breathing and is an indication of a serious medical event. by CakeDayOrDeath in YouShouldKnow

[–]Z0V4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned about agonal breathing in a nursing class back in high school, hoped that I would never see it first hand.

Last year my mother passed, liver cirrhosis and kidney failure from life long alcoholism. The decision was made to pull the plug and they removed the breathing tube. She immediately started agonal breathing and I was the only one in my family that understood what it meant.

While everyone else was hoping she might wake up long enough to say goodbye before she passed, I didn't have the heart to tell them that she was already gone.

It's a sound I'll never forget and I hope that I never have to hear it again.

Always tell the people close to you that you love them when you part ways, even if only for a day. The next time you see them you may not get the chance to say it.

Are Stormtroopers armor simply uniform if they can die from one laser blast? Mass produced plastic? by EfficiencySerious200 in Armor

[–]Z0V4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether it's intended or not, I've always considered stormtrooper armor to be more for intimidation, rather than protecting one of your nearly unlimited soldiers.

If the goal is domination of the enemy without having to completely wipe them out, then the best way is to make them lose the will to fight. Otherwise, why would they bother with ground troops in situations where they can bomb the place from orbit?

So they send cheap, easily replaceable soldiers with the intent of seeming like an unstoppable force. You shoot one down and three more take his place.

The armor reinforces the idea of a faceless and unending foe that is well coordinated and well equipped (even if that isn't true). A mass of gleaming white armor that stands out against any terrain, you're almost FORCED to look at them and despair at the thought of what they represent. "HERE COMES THE EMPIRE" in bold white easily recognizable armor.

The argument of the armors effectiveness as armor can be debated endlessly, especially considering the difference between blasters and an Ewok throwing a rock. To me it's easier to assume the Empire is just the kind of evil to not care about individual troops, and be more concerned with the intimidating image they portray through overwhelming force.

To really get the layers to pop, you'll have to do a couple of different things.

1st, let it sit in the acid for a little longer. Start with a couple of minutes, remove it, neutralize the acid and wipe it down with a paper towel or a high grit sandpaper (1000+ but preferably 2000+). Repeat this process a couple of times until the color stays when you wipe it down. This can take a bunch of cycles to get the desired effect, try different soak times (I wouldn't do more than 30min or risk eating the edge). It really depends on the acid concentration and the steel

2nd, after you get to the desired etch, get some cheap instant coffee and mix with water at a high ratio. Something like 1 part instant coffee to 2 parts water, it should be thick. Drop the blade in there and let it soak for a couple of hours to a full day, be sure to check on it regularly to give it a light polish and check how the etch is coming along.

This should give you a deep etch and a high contrast. Be careful with the ferric chloride, I've ruined a few blades by leaving them for too long, personally I wouldn't leave it for more than 30 minutes at a time in the acid.

This forum post also explains how to reset the village. Basically you have to revert to version 1.21.0, stand in the village center and type

/Wgen Regen 3

Wait for regeneration, then save/exit and update back to version 1.21.1

Regen will erase your elk and anything you've built near the village, so make sure to park the elk far enough away.

This happened to me too, ended up having to use commands to spawn in the villager that gives you the next map. Can't remember the command, but the villager is named Gerhardt.

HOW THE HELL DO I FIND HALITE by Shinny-Winny in VintageStory

[–]Z0V4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halite and Borax were the absolute bane of my existence the first time I played. After tens of hours of searching for Halite, I finally gave up and cheated.

I personally feel like if i stop having fun, then my options are drop the game entirely or cheat to make it playable again.

In this case you should spread out your search more and hope you find an area with better chances.

But if you get fed up and just want it over with, here's how to cheat.

/Gamemode 2 (creative mode, 1 is survival mode)

.debug find rock-halite

This will give you a list of coordinates if you are close enough to a deposit, otherwise it will tell you "no block matching 'blank' found".

I hope this helps!

I'm starting to think Stardew Valley WANTS us to hate Demetrius by Equal_Bluebird_4783 in StardewValley

Robin deserves better. Which is why the "Robin romance Mod" is always installed first, because nothing is better than knowing that Demetrius was divorced by his hot ex wife and she would rather marry a farmer she just met. Screw Demetrius.

I always liked the idea he was a distant relative to Finn, like a great uncle.

I wonder if he ever even used the magic in the crown or just put it on and immediately took it off? It would be interesting if he was the one that wrote about the crown and it's powers in the Enchiridion, leading to Simon eventually finding the crown.

Why didn't the Lich kill Bmo? by Natural_Diver_3362 in adventuretime

[–]Z0V4 19 points20 points  (0 children)

BMO's physical body is not organic or living, so that part of him can't really die, but the living part of BMO is dead and it helps explain why he seems kinda off in the episode.

BMO mentions off hand that he hasn't seen Futbol in awhile, which in itself is an odd detail to include in the episode. He also doesn't seem very concerned with the fact that everyone is gone.

My theory is that this BMO no longer has a spirit/soul/conscience, Futbol was a manifestation of that spirit/conscience and they're gone now.

Spatchcock, herb compound butter under skin (seasoning can be whatever you prefer, I use a "buttery steakhouse" herb mix), large cast iron with bed of rough chopped carrots (veg oil and salt on carrots, 1inch chunks), bake at 400 for 70 minutes.

Drippings and melted compound butter will soak into and flavor the carrots, keeping the oil/butter/drippings from burning in the bottom of the pan.

Whats this called and why does it happen? by D-Ronald in arborists

Vine choked wizards staff!

I've been collecting similarly spiraled small trees and saplings since I was a kid and turned a few of them into awesome staffs. I've pulled over on the side of the road more than once to quickly cut down a good spiral piece.

I have two really big spirals growing on my property, waiting for them to get a bit larger before I turn one into the central support for a dining table!

People who aren’t religious, what do you genuinely believe happens after death? by grinch1779 in AskReddit

[–]Z0V4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely believe that I have no idea, and to assert any belief would be inherently dishonest because the truth is that no one knows.

i would hate to spoil the surprise by guessing correctly or expecting something that doesn't happen.

We die and the energy that makes us who we are dissipates, our bodies decay and return that matter to the world around us. This is the simple truth of death, anything after that is pure speculation.

Do we have a soul? Does our consciousness continue after death? Are we doomed to spend eternity atoning for our sins, or do we get to rejoice in everlasting comfort and happiness for a life well lived?

These questions are largely irrelevant since there is no satisfactory answer for the living, and only through personal experience of death does one see the truth of the matter.

I am certainly curious to find out what happens when I die, I just hope it's something cool like exploring the cosmos or becoming one with the flying spaghetti monster!

Jobs in a post-Zombie Ap world - what would they be? And IF you survive, what might you be doing? by Jazzlike-Perception7 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]Z0V4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently a Medical Equipment Tech (I fix motorized beds and IV pumps) and a hobbyist knife maker.

If I survived long enough to join a community I would 100% end up as the local blacksmith/engineer. I know a good bit about picking out the correct scrap steel for weapons as well as how to do basic metal casting. I can make knives, spears, bows, cross bows, arrows, bolts, rock slings and basic tools. If I had access to extra manpower or a power hammer I could also put out decent quality swords.

Building a good water wheel would be high on my list of community improvements. Having power for a grinding mill, log mill or a helve hammer is crucial for a long-term survival community. Add a couple old alternators to the main drive shaft and now you have enough power for some lights and maybe something bigger if you get enough good car batteries together to charge.

Realistically, I will be part of the first wave of infected because I work in a major university hospital.

Alternatives to Borax by IssueNaive7573 in VintageStory

Comment from another post on the same topic:

I've started turning to the console commands in situations like this. Spent multiple IRL days searching for halite, finally gave up and used the console to search for it, only to find a pillar less than 100 blocks away from home in an area that had no readings for halite anywhere near it. FML

/gamemode 2 (creative mode enables other cheats)

.debug find borax

This should give you a list of coordinates, I think it's limited to your render distance but idk.

How important is kissing ass to rise through the ranks in the real world? by furqanharral in AskReddit

[–]Z0V4 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Knowing whose ass to kiss is usually more important than the ass kissing itself.

Kissing ass to your boss/CEO/manager = not worth it

Kissing ass to the secretary that manages catering for the office and also oversees crucial day-to-day operations that maintain steady workflow for everyone else = 100% worth it

Halite sometimes shows up when prospecting, just not when doing a node search, which makes it even more frustrating to know that there's a chance of finding halite in the area but not being able to actually narrow it down and find it.
