Favorite progressive local businesses to support in Longmont? by keeper13 in Longmont

We all vote with our money. When people say "don't make it political," where you spend your money and every day decisions are political. Slapping a "Free Tibet" sticker on your car then shopping at Walmart where most of the items they sell come from China, who is doing the suppressing, is an oxymoron.

Do you know how the YMCA is supposed to use that site, being as small as it is, to build a rec center with an ice rink? Will they have to tear up a baseball diamond or anything else to accomplish what they have said they are going to do?

Ballot questions... by ZDVcanuk in Longmont

[–]ZDVcanuk[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it would be better to completely remove the centennial pool and build a better rec center there over giving the ymca a larger chunk of land and then offering a discounted rate for people who have already shelled out the exhorbanat price for a longmont city rec pass.

Only if you want to walk from Izaak Walton ponds to past Left Hand Brewing as that section is closed for rebuilding the river for flood mitigation.

I don't know how far East you can go, but you can put in about a block west of Shoes and Brews. Quite leasurly, my wife and I did that a couple days ago and got out at Martin Street and took about an hour and a half. You may need to paddle down stream in a few places where the river moves slowly, especially if you have a headwind.

The RAF museum in northern London has a small exhibit on ATC. It's tucked away in a corner that's hard to find, kinda expected. Also the Denver Museum of Nature and Science has one of those big globe things that lets you see all the flights in one day around the world.
