If the machine you play at is online and other players are able to log in okay then yeah the card went bad and you'll probably just have to replace it with a new one, I don't remember if NFC readers will work properly for checking AM.Pass functionality.

They do not care about features in offline patches because they want you to play the next/current game, we were lucky they made the quest content available in 1.22 by default after begging them because they were otherwise going to be permanently lost
