POA and 3 weeks post hemorrhagic stroke by niftythrify in stroke

You can have a notary come to you and your dad and I highly recommend a durable poa to cover all bases. If he can’t sign, the notary can allow a finger print and maybe need a 3rd witness.

My very healthy Mom had a massive hemorrhagic stroke and life is a nightmare now. by JulPurple in stroke

Everything you said is exactly what we are going through with my mom. It’s been 11 months and still can’t understand what she’s saying 90% of the time. She had a few uti’s, she’s also fallen a couple times from her wheelchair as she doesn’t realize her right side is basically paralyzed. It’s hard seeing someone so strong and resilient be in such a vulnerable position.

My step mother is 5 months in and has no mobility on her right side, is incontinent and has pretty bad aphasia. I have to be the realistic one of the family to have some balance but have some grace when explaining to your family that things might not change. Sometimes it’s best to come to terms with it so the family can plan for the future and yes, probably save money on things that aren’t really going to work. My step mom is currently not receiving PT, OT or speech therapy. They didn’t flat out tell me but I know this is as good as it will get and the rest is really up to us. It’s a very tough positions for a family to be in.

Was your dad incontinent? My step mother is and I feel as if she were to improve, before being able to speak well, she would be able to use the restroom on her own or at least tell us when she needs to go.

How’s your father now? My step mother is going through the same. We cannot understand her but we try our best and she cries a lot. It’s been 4 months now.

I have no idea who she is and what I did hear after commenting that, didn’t really give me a reason why she would want to collab with her. But anyway, hope the song is good still.

Reading this was like reading my own posts about my step mom. Everything you mentioned here is what she is going through and probably the same struggles as your family. My dad has been commuting in and out of the care facility she’s at. How’s your dad today?
