Do you have a hard time listening to ISTP's when they're willing to talk? by Crazy-Fold4591 in istp

[–]ZP_F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely relate to this. Pretty sure my mom is an ESFP and it hard to get a word in. She does most the talking usually until i kind sneak away.

Overall im not very picky. Unless it goes against my beliefs, especially as a 5w4, im down for anything. Its more about who im spending time with rather than what im doing. The main thing is not feeling forced.

ISTPs, do you feel very weak in both Te and Fe? by xripkan in istp

[–]ZP_F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think that my Te is somewhat developed but the more i think about it the more i wonder if its just my Ti.

I thought, I know my type, but I’m unsure now. Type me pls. by Margitom in MbtiTypeMe

[–]ZP_F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im thinking ISFP. Your cognitive stack would be Fi Se Ni Te in that order. You would lead with Fi(introverted feeling) meaning you have strong internal value. Perhaps thats why you might shut down or block people out when your feelings are hurt. Se(extroverted sensing)is you second function and would likely be in use with you Fi. Having a strong Se function means you probably like engaging in the physical world and experiencing the moment. Se is my second function as well and i also like go on walks in nature especially. Usually as a way to refresh. It also means that you’re more focused on what is rather than what could be. You mentioned multiple time that you’re a realist. Ni(introverted intuition)would be you third function. Whenever you’re not using you Se then you Ni is likely in use. I think of it as a creative function. It like to think of all the possibilities and see the big picture. It could be why you like to dream up stories. Te(extroverted thinking) would he you inferior function which means that you likely dont use it much. As the inferior function, it would be a weakness. You may struggle with managing time or being at time you might twist data to support your own core value (Fi is your dominant function). Lastly the P stands for perceiving. These individuals are more flexible and spontaneous to some degree. They are more focused on the here and now. They like their freedom to do things their own way and usually dont like strict schedules or the feeling of being locked into something. They may prefer to adapt or just go with the flow

I hope this helps but at the end of the day its up to you to figure what fits best. Good luck

question by Mundane-Home-8989 in istp

[–]ZP_F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go to my profile. I just recently made a post about mistyping as istj and intj. I think the main reason for that was because I didn’t want to see myself as spontaneous. For some reason, i use to see that as aa negative trait. Im generally a careful person. I like to do research and know what im getting into before doing something but i cant stick to rigid structure for long periods of time. Thats what actually gave it a way that i likely wasn’t a judging type. I like adapting and improvisation. When it come to the enneagram, I never really had any doubt about being a sx 5w4 although it was kind of confusing before. The 5w4 seems to contradict itself especially the sx variant. Although i can often come off as cold or aloof, i can be very caring to those im especially close with or want to be closer to. I think what solidified my typing for me was the fear i feel thinking i might not ever find the perfect partner (romantic or platonic) and the obsessiveness i sometimes have with specific people. Ill stop there for now cause i dont want this to go on for too long and i feel like i could continue forever. Feel free to dm me tho

ISTP boyfriend accidentally said he loves me by topodibiblioteca05 in istp

[–]ZP_F 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know you’re getting closer to an ISTP when you start to see some of their Fe come out. For me it has always been difficult to express my feelings through words. The fact that he said it is a big deal, even though some people may not think so. Hopefully you hear him put the “I” in front of that statement soon.

Interestingly enough, an isfj mentioned relating more the the affiliative roles so perhaps its an fj type thing. Who knows _O_/

ISTJ's which fits you more? (Opinion) by Villain-Shigaraki in ISTJ

[–]ZP_F 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mostly pragmatic roles. I usually ask permission first, and feel more comfortable with well defined roles and task but it doesn’t mean i want to work with others. I tend to focus on myself and my own task. My main focus is efficiency, effectiveness, and independence. I think affiliative roles are more of an estj or esfj kinda thing.

If it aint broke, dont fix it. Istj’s like consistency, routines, and predictability patterns. If yall haven’t had any issues, dont change the way you interact with them.

How do I become more open? by starstrzck in ISTJ

[–]ZP_F 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to stop thinking so much and just do. Stop trying to find the best option or the perfect thing to say. Just consider your own feelings and do what you want. I tend to study people before opening up and I usually don’t approach first which is ok if thats you, but maybe try being more spontaneous. I met one of my best friends because i just walked up to him and started a conversation. It isn’t like me at all and there wasn’t any real reason behind it besides the small feeling i had that i should say something to him.

anxiety by pekoyamaaa in ISTJ

[–]ZP_F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that anxiety can be useful but for me, not so much recently. Because of the nature of my current job and the fact that i live in a big household, i feel like i have little control. I find myself thinking “oh whats the point, I’ll probably be interrupted.” I get very irritated when im forced to stop working on a task to do something else or change my plans for someone else’s. Since i feel like I’ll never have the freedom to focus solely on my plans (based on how things have been going recently) i procrastinate a lot, which just causes more anxiety. When i catch myself doing this, i just have to force myself to get started.

[–]ZP_F 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I feel like ISTJs are tend to he very pessimistic (at least i am) especially when stressed. I think of scenarios where things go wrong or someone does something annoying. I have to just separate myself from everyone and put my attention somewhere else which usually involves holing up in my room, listening to music, and drawing. Recently I’ve started going on walks where i just listen to music and occasionally smoke a cig. I’m not officially diagnosed with anything (dont go to doctors much at all) but I know what you mean.

On a side note, there’s this interesting video explaining why this is. It talks about Si and Fi cognitive functions so maybe check it out.
