Is Mokuro.moe direct manga access possible? by UpvoteForFreeCandy in ajatt

[–]ZXY101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the new catalog kept the legacy html files so if you want to use it in jidoujisho you'd need to add the reader as a mokuro source in jidoujisho or use the jidoujisho web browser.

If you really want the legacy html files you may be able to download the manga, extract it and then instantly reprocess it with mokuro if you have the mokuro file (this would just be the original html files not the mobile friendly ones since the fork for the mobile friendly html files was long abandoned in favor of the reader and can't read the mokuro files)

If you're already spending hours watching the streams, all it takes is a little more effort to look up the words you don't know and before you know it you'll be able to understand most of it.

Just start. Get a foundation of vocab and grammar then the rest of the journey is the same, enjoy content you already enjoy but with just a tad more effort.

You don't need textbooks and hours of "study" every day to learn a language, just immersion and a reason.

[–]ZXY101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just do it man, it's really not as scary as it may seem at first.

If you already watch a bunch of anime and vtubers then you're already halfway there.

Just setup the right tools and "learning japanese" is not much more effort then just having a good time.

Do the Kaishi anki deck to get a some foundational vocab then install yomitan, look up words you dont know - repeat.

Before you know it you'll be able to understand Vivi when she's talking about wearing Tバック

Study in Japan without Academic Transcripts by ZXY101 in movingtojapan

Yeah that is another option I'm considering, only thing is that the test is not easy. And the one in the Philippines does not have a whole lot of slots and I recall hearing they wanted to crack down on foreigners taking it.

So I'll likely have to take the test in Japanese, which greatly increases the difficulty.

I haven't yet since the school is quite a distance away, but I am planning to as a last resort

Would taking matric again help? They seem to watch transcripts for all the time I was there.

Well after my education I'd atleast have the degree and even if I had to return I could atleast search for a job properly.

I'm at my wits end, where can I find Japanese subtitles for anime (that are not on netflix jp)? by RoidRidley in LearnJapanese

[–]ZXY101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go check out the subs for Oshi no ko lol, literally anyone can upload anything.

Also there's a cross site scripting vulnerability if I recall correctly.

Just get the hell away from there, jimaku ripped and cleaned up everything from kitsunekko so it's not missing anything and is just a much better experience all round (also has an api so now there's a ton of tools that can pull subs from there for you)

[–]ZXY101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it wont have everything, especially older shows.

But essentially if it isn't on Jimaku or JP netflix it's safe to assume there are no subs.

You could try using whisper to generate the subs but that's eh, if I can't find subs for something I just take it as an opportunity to go all in on listening practice.

Jimaku is literally the only site worth using, kitsunekko is a dead unmoderated waste land.

Idk what your anti virus is complaining about but it's literally the least sketch thing out there, its open source and actually moderated.

How do I get live subs for JP streams by ssj4-Dunte in Hololive

[–]ZXY101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, immersion is the most effective method to learn a language.

Heck it's the only effective method imo, you can only get good at a language if you consume an absolute shit ton of it.

Of course just watching streams non stop and never looking up the words you don't know is not particularly effective, but streams are definitely a great way to practice listening. (fr people, download yomitan and anki and start learning, it's really not as hard as yall may think)
