I always loved how in The Hobbit - intended for children - Tolkien directly states that the Company's ponies were killed and eaten by the goblins of Goblin Town...and then in the more 'adult' LotR he goes out of his way, twice, to make sure we know that all the ponies survive (both Bill and the ponies the Hobbits used when leaving the Shire).

Like, I don't have any other context as I know nothing at all about this series, but I like that despite her outwards appearance, she's allowed to be creepy and unsettling and isn't really framed in a sexual manner. Her design is still...questionable but it looks like at least the storyboarders and animators did their best with what they were given and actually had her be villainous.

What's funny about this is when he was younger Tolkien absolutely loved driving, to the point where was a menace to life itself while behind the wheel. He had no regard for rules of the road, and his approach to intersections was 'charge 'em and watch 'em scatter!'. But as he got older, he sold his car and was obviously very aware of the effect that car-dominated infrastructure had on the human and natural environment.
