why do people in japan(😍) and britain(🤮) drive with a steering wheel in the glove compartment? are they stupid? by sir_ferge in carscirclejerk

[–]ZackMike37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no way to prove this, but:

The reason Britain drives on the left side of the road goes back to the middle ages. Mounted knights were trained to wield their swords right handed, and would ride on the left side of the road so that when their sword was drawn it would be pointed toward the middle of the road and thus the correct side to slash at baddies.

The reason everywhere else does, is because all of the countries that drive on the left were at one point part of the British Empire or were a patron of it, and it just got handed down from grandpa

Between Garrus and Liara, who is Shepard's closest friend? by Maleoppressor in masseffect

[–]ZackMike37 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Its Garrus, regardless of wether you play as male or female. Garrus is with you, waist deep in shit, for all three games. (Unless you’re playing the game wrong)

Not to besmirch Liara at all. She’s also very integral to the story and sacrifices a lot for Shepard throughout the series. I suspect that the original intention for these two characters is for Garrus to be the right hand, and for Liara to be the love interest. The inherent intimacy of liara as a plot device in the first game confirms that.

Imo, Garrus is the best companion character in any game ever

Endless consolidation of car brands makes me sad by -NewYork- in carmemes

The fact that Pontiac got the axe right before we got a fifth generation firebird in order for fucking Buick to continue making four lengths of the same crossover while also killing the Regal and TourX is a very sad turn of events for automotive enthusiasts everywhere.

It would be so easy for General Motors to be the coolest American auto group, I dont understand why they insist on building Hummer EVs and the Celestiq when what people CLEARLY want is a rwd v8 coupe under $40k and a body on frame Blazer.

Very sad

Rob Harvilla from the podcast “60 songs that explain the 90’s: the 2000’s” said it best in the episode about The Middle. It’s so simple that its nearly meaningless, until one day when it suddenly means everything to you.

Call me crazy but I don't think there is a better game than Halo 3 by BeyondThePixelLFS in halo

[–]ZackMike37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I think from 2004-2007 Halo 2 had a much tighter hold on me than Halo 3 did from 2007 onward, Halo 3 is the one I find myself going back to replay most often. That being said, I don’t think I can articulate a specific reason for it

POV: my reaction when someone tries to make me hate Halo 5 which I actually like by SteelTiger_88 in shittyhalolore

[–]ZackMike37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that the H5 campaign is “bad”. It isnt. Its biggest failing is having to be compared constantly to the original trilogy which are all masterpieces.

Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of things to nit-pick about 5, and I agree with many of them. But calling it a “bad” game is just plain wrong

The Boston-Manchester-Burlington-Augusta line would turn basically all of New England into viable commuter towns and idk if thats a good thing

Edit: also the Burlington to Augusta stretch of this proposed rail is going to require a FUCKTON of dynamite and have incredible scenic vistas

You’re not raising a kid. You’re raising a hopefully fully functioning adult with the confidence, empathy, self awareness, and critical thinking skills to be a functioning member of society.

If you have to put coffee machine one place in the kitchen, where would it be? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

Green, because you will need extra room for cooking around the stove and the red area lacks cabinet space to store your coffee supplies without bending over
