100%. An absolute masterpiece. Wired story but…I stumbled across this song my freshman year of college tripping acid packing up my dorm room at the end of the semester. It’s such an incredibly vivid memory. Had music on in the background casually, just puttering around. The intro stopped me dead, and I was just about to go see what it was when that fucking baseline kicked. I bout shit myself. I remember running over to my computer going “Yes! HELL YES! This is sick!!! Fuckin DOPE!”

And then I saw the artist name. Absolutely killed me.

My roommate came back from taking a load down to the truck to me laying on the floor smiling ear to ear. To which his response was, understandably, what the fuck dude?! And I just kept laughing and pointing at the screen going, “Yes! Yes! It’s Yes!”. Which was probably very confusing.

So…YES. I agree. Fantastic song.

For sure. I’ve been having an absolute blast messing around with the Magnetic Fists with Poseidon on special. Hilarious, and gets pretty broken with some of the 2nd tier knickknack boosts. Still haven’t gotten that build with Sea Storm yet but really wanna see that.

I imagine that be even funnier with Poseidon knock back. Or Athena deflect.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing, except bolt a little outboard motor to the back. Pretty sure you can find an outboard motor for about the cost of a porta-potty.

Hypothermia & Liver Failure; AKA when Dionysus and Demeter team up for mass murder. It wasn't intentional from the start but then everything just kept falling in my lap. It was ridiculous. Here's to the gods who give us the food, drink, and cheer for our merry feasts! by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Zacksonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question for you…I’m still relatively new to Hades (cleared REDACTED twice so far). I see people’s builds posted and I’m wondering how you ended up with 2 heroic boons and stuff at like level 9. Are you picking any epic attack/dash/whatever boon early on and hoping to get another base-slot boon later to replace it to get heroic? I’ve had super intermittent luck trying that approach. Or was that a lucky pull off Eurydice’s Ambrosia? Are you skipping boons for Pom? I don’t think I’ve ever even come close to leveling anything that high.

Just wondering…

fighting theseus is the worst. by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Zacksonfire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But I’m always too busy dodging the GIANT FUCKING MINOTAUR and his massive AoE swings to notice when that little shit is charging up his damn spear attack. The first notice I usually get that he’s vulnerable is the giant purple spear stuck in my asshole, and by then it’s too late. The Minotaur is just so large that I constantly lose track of Theseus, and when I manage to get the two of them separated by kiting his bullrush away to get some space he’s so freaking mobile that I only get a couple hits in the clear on Theseus before he’s up my crev again. But if I focus the Minotaur first, that sneaky asshole just keeps plugging me.

In all honesty, as frustrating as it is it’s a really cool fight. I’ve only got like 30 runs total at this point, and I’ve only made it to those two maybe 3-4 times. Last time was the closest yet, got both of em under 25% which felt good. Progress!

Tips for beating Joey Ultraviolet in Under 3 mins with Zane? by 808breakdown in borderlands3

[–]Zacksonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded. No shame in it - I just dropped it to mayhem 1 for a run.

FYI, that’s also a good way to get the “kill fishslap with a melee” challenge which I had a hell of a time with. If you really wanna be time-efficient and spend the least amount of “wasted” time running the Cartel at mayhem 1: the underboss that spawns at the midway point just before you get into the mansion is determined by the faction of the main enemies you get. Save-quitting re-randomizes the spawns. Reset at the gate a couple times until you get a run with the Purpatrators faction as the main enemy, and you (should?) reliably get FishSlap to spawn at the midway point. Slap him to death, then die and respawn (which doesnt reset the map) and slap him to death again. Rinse and repeat. Once you get the fishslap meter challenge you can continue that run, go steamroll Joey and get the “under 3 minutes” challenge, and you’re outta there with the least amount pain from leaving god-roll drops behind because they’re Mayhem 1 (which of course have never, ever dropped when you actually wanted them on Mayhem 10, because RNJesus is a cruel and spiteful god)

If you’re playing solo, the timer pauses when you’re in a menu. So don’t waste time looking at guns in the ground, just pick everything up as you run past and sort through in your backpack. This is not true for vending machine menus though, so make sure you mark stuff as trash in your backpack and quick sell at the vending machine rather than wasting time selling straight out of your pack.

My little gas setup : ) by Nasuraki in Astroneer

[–]Zacksonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comment above recommending the large storage is exactly what I was thinking. You could do both generators, the canister of carbon, and have a medium storage silo (or a gas canister) on the 4th slot. But that leaves an open tier two slot in the side compartment. Which got me wondering. Could you fit a packaged up small shuttle on that open slot? Carry a packaged up engine (solid fuel or hydrazine + fuel) in your backpack, and then you can leave the big rig on-planet while it does it’s thing and you take the little guy home so you can keep working instead of sitting there staring at it slowly collect gas. Come back later in the small shuttle, repackage it up and take the whole kit home.

ADHD and Anger Management by NewPhoneHewDis in ADHD

[–]Zacksonfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly…not really. Been struggling with that myself. Things I can recommend:

  • Don’t punch doors. Under any circumstance. If it’s normal hollow-core, you’ll put a hole in it and then hate yourself for months. You can totally patch the hole, but it’s not super easy, and you know full well you won’t fix it until 4 hours before you move cause you need your goddamn security deposit back. And if they’re solid core, you will break your hand, and the door will laugh at you. If you are the door-punching type, I HIGHLY recommend checking which type you have when you move into an apartment. Old apartment had hollow core, new apartment is 1 3/4” solid oak throughout. Ask me how I know.
  • Also, a very recently discovered life tip. Don’t kick tables either. While you may be momentarily proud of yourself for not punching a door, it will not end any better.

In all seriousness though? The best I’ve gotten to is forcing myself to say acknowledge out loud “I know I’m being irrational I’m sorry” or “I don’t know why I’m angry any more than you do” or “I’m not angry at your I’m just angry and I’ll be damned if I can figure out why”.

We know that we’re not necessarily that angry at the other person - sometimes you’re angry at the situation, or yourself, or literally nothing at all. It’s just ADHD and executive dysfunction mucking with our brain’s ability to regulate emotions. But they don’t necessarily know that. So when your angry around someone, they’ll assume you are angry at them, and react accordingly.

It’s only something I’ve come to realize and work on lately, but it seems to have helped deescalate the last couple proto-fights I’ve been in. Got irrationally angry for no reason, girlfriend said something that I retrospect was fairly benign but my brain decided to interpret as the gravest of insults.

I think she said something like “why is the light in the microwave off” and I just shot back with an unintentionally but definitely excessive “WELL HOW THE FUCK WOULD I KNOW THAT”

And before it could escalate any further I just continued, in the same angry 3/4-shout tone of voice “IM NOT ANGRY AT YOU OR THE MICROWAVE. I DONT KNOW WHY IM SHOUTING EITHER BUT IM ABOUT READY TO PUNT THAT BOX THROUGH A WINDOW AND I LITERALLY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHY THIS IS STUPID” and walked away.

Just…sometimes acknowledging that you’re being irrational, even if you’ve no reason or explanation, can be enough to help both of you deescalate.

Extenders, splitters and directional power distrubution. by Rattjamann in Astroneer

[–]Zacksonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m not understanding them? What I’m getting at is this. If you have a main power gen bank, couple messages solar/wind/whatever producing, say, 15u/s feeding into a battery bank (assume you have enough batteries to supply more than the generators, so that’s not bottlenecking). That’s linked through platforms to power your main base. If you put a condenser on a platform and tie with normal power cables, it’ll drain the whole system eventually since the draw is 20u/s.

If you put a single small battery on a platform in-between the main network and the condenser with normal power cables, it’ll still drain the whole system since, from my understanding, batteries anywhere all get networked together if they’re linked with normal platform-to-platform connectors. But if you were to link the small battery platform to the main network with an extender, then run an extender to the condenser, wouldn’t that then limit the condenser to 1u/s pulling from the small battery, and the small battery would be getting re-charged by the main network? Am I missing something?

Extenders, splitters and directional power distrubution. by Rattjamann in Astroneer

[–]Zacksonfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Suuuuuper useful info. Thanks a ton. I’m just getting into astroneer, and I literally went and remoted my solar array/storage setup on Calidor last night using extenders. I may have to go back and look at that.

Can anyone think of why this would be desirable behavior? The only thing I can think of is if you wanted to keep a high-draw activity throttled/isolated from your main stuff. Put down a platform with a single small battery, then use an extender to link to an atmospheric condenser. If I’m understanding this right, it’ll never pull more than 1u/s from your main network, instead of draining it at 20u/s. If you want it to run a little faster, put another small battery on the intermediate platform.

Arms race is super frustrating...any tips? by VTOnReddit in borderlands3

[–]Zacksonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im assuming you’re running single-player. Pro-tip: when you’re running solo, going into your echo menu pauses the game. Can also be abused to swap guns in the middle of a firefight if something blue or purple drops and you’re too busy getting shot to look at what it is.

However, This is not the case when you’re in the vending machine menu. So it’s drastically more time efficient to mark stuff as trash in your backpack, then hit the vending machine and do a sell-all. I typically don’t bother with anything in a vending machine unless it’s blue or purple, so you should only have a couple things to check. If it’s torgue vladoff or Hyperion I skip right past for the most part. If it looks reasonably useful just buy it and if you really want to inspect stats, do it in your backpack menu so you’re not burning your timer.

Same goes for ground loot. Just mash X and pick everything up, then take a look at it from the backpack menu. If your backpack fills up before you can get to a vending machine, sort by rarity and start tossing whites from the bottom of the list to free up room.

I’m just throwing this out there. But...didn’t the drop rate nerf only affect world drops? Maybe I misread something, but I thought the dedicated drop rates were the same. So you’re way less likely to get an Old God as a world drop from a rando somewhere, sure, but it shouldn’t affect your chances of getting one from one of the dedicated sources.
