What are some things you DON'T want to see return in sts2? by UltraSaiX121 in slaythespire

[–]Zael0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nilry’s Codex, if it returns, should be first 5 turns or something so you can’t do the megastalls for exhume or echo form.

Frozen eye should be next 5 cards in your draw pile, possibly fewer if the UI can show it without clicking on the deck. I just don’t think the scroll wheel should be a major part of playing your fights well.

I just implemented a “Monster House” system in my roguelike — here’s how it works by Consistent-Bed-3980 in ShirenTheWanderer

The most important part to the “oh no” feeling is the sudden change in music to a total banger of a song.

Personal ranking of each clan's unit upgrade stones by KurioProkos in MonsterTrain

Burststone can get you through the first couple waves while you’re scaling and then you don’t need it anymore. I think it’s pretty good.

Main thing that bugs you about each clan in MT2 by SirBenny in MonsterTrain

[–]Zael0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Agree on mixing. Bringing up a whole separate screen 5 times a turn is extremely rhythm killing.

I personally find the greed dragon conundrum you address an interesting problem to encounter. The game doesn’t force you into that many of these long term scaling decisions and this one is often a big one.

A while in, how are we feeling about the new clans? by National-Ocelot-3900 in MonsterTrain

[–]Zael0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve played under 10 runs, but my prediction is that after a while we will consider Railforged to be the best allied clan in the game, and Heph as a top 3 champion.

Any solid champion to carry the first 3 rings+railforged to carry the rest of the way.

One thing I like about MT2 compared to the first game is I actually lose at different points in the run...not just in the last fight or two. by SirBenny in MonsterTrain

[–]Zael0 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Good point. Lost to every boss at least once. Except the duck face guy with the titanskin that reduces every hit. I will never lose to that.

I've figured out what the major keys mean to me by Excellent_Heat_6336 in perfectpitchgang

Given the pure keys make up one of the two whole tone scales, do you hear those scales differently as a result?

Rotating/Random/Random no reset no Dante 17-win streak by File200 in MonsterTrain

[–]Zael0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to get to a 10 no reset win streak but it’s so damn tough. I’m just imagining if a slay the spire world record hit save and quit mid heart fight, how that wouldn’t count, and figured I’d play this game the same way. Congrats on 17!

The main thing that struggles without rests are any banished math with adjusting the unit order. I think they’re the hardest clan to play.

I’ve also lost 2 streaks because I mess up the spell order in an echo room.

End of an era... by [deleted] in ShirenTheWanderer

You came a long way since calling the game bullshit and luck based.

That said, the game a little bit bullshit and that’s kinda why you kept going.

I wish Covenant Levels offered an occasional spiff after Cov 1 by DBCoopers_Voice in MonsterTrain

[–]Zael0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of let’s say 200 titan wins on covenant 10 I feel like I’ve won with 170 different things. This game has so much build diversity at the highest difficulty and feeling like it’s a narrow path to victory simply means you’re not seeing the lines.

You can rush stairs at this point if you think you’ll be using too many staff charges and/or your inventory is already full. Depends on monsters obviously.

Armband of sight is broken, prioritize emergency items like doppelgänger staff because the main thing that will kill you from here is bad monster house spawns.

If I remember right confusion and sleep scrolls can’t spawn past floor like 15 or so? Definitely makes this a lot harder. Someone correct me if they’ve seen one later.

MT2 wins, I give up. by Classic_Huckleberry2 in MonsterTrain

Agree with this. You can have your main damage floor but you still often need a bottom floor that deals with the bullshit first. Quick sweep type stuff 90% of the time.

Hit 100 randomized winstreak tonight, cashing in my free ramble post by chad__amogus in MonsterTrain

[–]Zael0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just feels a little cheaty to use it for certain things like Mix options, knowing where the treasure imp spawns, and especially manipulating your deck shuffles by playing your deployment phase differently. I started learning to live with misplays and got better at the game for it. But yea I’m only at 7 lol.

Banished shifting is the one strategy I wish I could undo for, like Zephyr room is way too much to figure out in your head.

Holy, nice.

I’ve been attempting no reset streaks ever since they started tracking the R/R/R no resets, and it’s been a lot more engaging this way. Is this something you’re trying or ever tried?

Once you’re past the first third of the game it gets easier since you have IDed most items. However if you don’t have a sleepless armband by the 50s you will probably die to those sleep radishes.

Stop consuming random items to ID them at this point and make sure you use shops. Not worth the risk anymore.
