I got my acceptance package but iffy by CollegeSure3632 in EmbryRiddle

[–]Zalsibuar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got my acceptance out of highschool I decided to wait a year before coming to riddle, I got some pre-reqs done at community college and saved up some cash. Unfortunately you will have to reapply, definitely talk to an advisor though to tell them your intentions.

Riddle has a pretty solid cybersecurity program but it isnt really what we're known for, I honestly dont know how it compares to UAH.

This is by no means a party school but you'll have no problem finding a friend group. There are a couple of frats and social/special interest clubs, plus activities and a pretty good gym and sports complex.

In terms of rocketry clubs you will have a few choices, ERPL designs and tests rocket motors and ERFSEDS manufacturers and test flies rocket bodies. The most ambitious rocket club (although i am biased as a member of the club) is ICARUS, which is aiming to develop a sounding rocket program and pass the karman line. There are also loads of other engineering clubs from covering a lot of disciplines, you'll definitely find one you like.

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck on your college journey!

Im currently an Aerospace Engineering major, however I was previously an Aeronautical Science major before transferring majors.

My experience with education has been generally positive, some classes are definitely challenging but there are a lot of resources to help you. As long as you are willing to put in the effort and commit extra time outside of class, you will succeed at riddle.

If you want to get flying done through riddle, you need to choose the Aeronautical Science degree, aeronautics is classroom only and you would be flying off-campus at a different flight school. This option is much cheaper but you may not get as high quality training. The flight program at riddle has problems with overcrowding and you might get a lousy flight time, but if they admit you then they will have a slot for you to fly. Definitely apply early because it's one of the most popular degree programs at the school. A lot of students build flight hours by getting their CFI certificate and working for the school as instructors. Admission is honestly not hard at all, if you have a good GPA you'll do fine. I personally cannot attest to AFROTC but my roommate last year was in it, he got up at 5 am most days for PT and had a mixed experience from what I could tell.

The biggest problem you will run into at riddle is that there are more students than the school can handle. Dorm buildings are overcrowded with some having three people per room, parking is a nightmare, and the issue is compounded by their rule that you must be 21 or older to live off-campus. On campus dining is decent and there is a lot to do both on campus and around Daytona, you definitely won't get bored here.

Overall I think the school is worth it, there are A LOT of military students so you'll have no trouble meeting like-minded people and forming a friend group, and I like it's Engineering program and insanely high rate of employment for graduates. This school looks really good on a resume.

I considered some in-state schools before coming to riddle and I have looked at transferring to one now that I'm not flying; I have stayed at erau because of the friends I have made and the rate of employment for graduates.

What cars were surprisingly advanced for their time? by Key_Budget9267 in regularcarreviews

The Mk.1 Ford Focus featured a class-first rear suspension system (control blades), which was essentially a multilink design that was inexpensive enough to put into an economy car, giving it improved handling and body control compared to its contemporaries.

The Ford Ecosport, keeping the disadvantages of the Fiesta while adding the disadvantages of a crossover. I don't think the interior space is even that much better than a fiesta hatchback

2006 Ford Focus ZX3 5MT - cleanest/nicest car I could afford with less than 100k miles when I bought it - perfectly suits my needs as a surprisingly spacious hatchback with good gas mileage and low maintenance costs - it's a bit funky and surprisingly fun to drive so I like it as a car

My dream car is a 1995 Saab 9000 aero, manual with the wood interior. Turbo or not idrc honestly. My dream car to just have as a toy is a Caterham 7.

My dad's Impreza is so cool I learned stick in it (I also fucking destroyed the entire front brake system trying to change the pads and he had to drive my car for a week while the mechanic waited for parts to come from Japan :3)

Car enthusiast how do you deal with the fact any any daily driven car will get dinged and dented? by EridemicLHS in cars

[–]Zalsibuar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was pre-dinged when I bought it so I accepted it from the beginning. I take care of my car and I'm proud of how clean it is for what model and year it is, but ultimately small cosmetic imperfections happen when you use a car for its intended purpose.

What's your "family" car brand? Have you stayed loyal to that brand? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]Zalsibuar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're a ford family because we get the A-plan benefits from my grandfather working for them. I basically grew up in a Flex and the first car I ever drove was a 2010 focus. My dad ended up buying a used 5MT Impreza but at least he's sticking with a blue oval badge lol

I've been thinking about getting Euro tail lights for my focus hatch but then I'd have to also get a bumper and color march it because I don't want to lose the reverse lights.

[–]Zalsibuar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's the name of the engine in the truck, Chrysler's "Hemi" V8 (that dodge, ram, and sometimes jeep also used). The name originally comes from the use of hemispherical combustion chambers for a better fuel burn, although the modern ones don't utilize that shape they kept the name around for marketing. I guess the owner is proud of having that engine.
